This is a great local Chinese restaurant. My husband used to work across the street about 8 years ago and the owners still recognize his voice when he calls in an order! The food is great and the staff is excellent.
I love going to Lisa's tea. This location is associated with the one in Campbell, and has the same friendly and accomodating staff. Lisa's Tea is more of an "event" place than a restaurant, and the food is always well presented and delicious.
I love this English restaurant that serves tea. It is a nice place to relax for a bit and envision yourself in England. I always get the "Tea Plate" which is pretty much lunch -- a sandwich, scone, cake, crumpet, pastries, cookies, etc., and very affordable. I stop by whenever I get the chance -- no reservations are required.
I love this store. They have every yarn you have only read about online and in magazines. I loved being able to touch everything and try out yarns I would have had trouble finding if it weren't for them. The staff is friendly and the location is good. A++
I've been to this restaurant twice and each time the food was okay, not too exciting, but the service was great and it's a nice place to go to for dessert. They specialize in olallieberries and have many desserts made from this Central California berry. My friends really enjoyed the Olallieberry cream cake.
The food was pretty good, but not the best tea I've had. My friend and I came in a few minutes late (we walked there) and the proprietor was a bit gruff with us, then was kind of put off when we asked for separate tea pots. I might go back but it wasn't high on my list of things to do in Cambria or tea spots.
A rather ho-hum yarn store in my opinion. I've been to some great ones, however. They do have some good brands, but the displays could be improved (I never like to see the yarn in the bag it came in for sale like that ...). I've been in twice and neither time have seen anything worth buying.
Nine Rubies is a new yarn store in downtown San Mateo. They have a beautiful store with a great selection of upscale and affordable yarn! Their hours are amazing -- 10 to 7 every day, and their staff is friendly and helpful. Knitting nights are Wednesdays 6-8.
PROS: great hours, great selection, great location
Full Thread Ahead is a newish yarn store that specializes in hard to find, specialty and upscale yarns. They have a great selection of yarn as well as many different classes, kids knitting camps and knitting birthday parties. It is worth a trip to see the yarns you only read about online!
PROS: great selection, good hours, reasonable prices
