Visions does try.. I just don't think they are sure what they want to be. Its a resturant.. but it's a bar.. but it's a club. The place is pretty cool though, boasting a large alcohol menu and many plasma screen tv's. You can rent out a VIP section for about 250.00. The place hasn't really caught on yet, They are quite popular on the eventvibe website and can score you many free drinks on friday nights. This place is on a lot of people's tounge and does have potential, the managment just needs to decide what direction they want to go in.
PROS: Nice environment, Lots of sitting room around the bar
CONS: What is it!? As loud as a club, but has a resturant and a bar.
Jbar is pirched on the 4th for of the hotel solomar. The bar is situated around the pool with firepits and adequate seeting for all. The bar is extremely laid back playing house music just loud enough to not have to yell at the people around out. The lights on top of the hotel shine softly down on the patrons below and change with the feeling of the music. The ambience is definately great at Jbar. I fancy this bar quite often when I don't feel like visiting a club and would recomend to anyone.
J six is.. well on the corner or J and Six. It's a new trendy resturant built against the solomon hotel. The resturant is a little loud and always pretty packed. Make sure you dress to impress. The food is pretty good although small portions for the price. The wine list is very large and the staff is friendly as well as extremely educated on the menu. After Eating at J-six go up the elevator to J-Bar.
PROS: Great staff, Good food
CONS: Small portions for large price.
Benihana is definately an "Experience" rather than just a dinner. If your party is small you will be seated with other guests, but It's really not bad at all.. just make some new friends :-D. I went there for lunch so it wasn't too busy, the cook was quite amazing and I had a blast. Make sure you tell them it's your birthday for a free picture of the experience.
I always enjoy going to different House of Blues and this one is no different, the rooms are well themed and the sound is great, definately a great place for a concert. Just bring your standing shoes, little if any sitting area.
On Broadway is definately lots of fun, The way they worked the old bank in to the whole situation is definately interesting. The cover is a bit pricey but worth it, the people aren't too snobby and enjoy dancing with everyone. The drinks aren't too pricey either, although don't bother ordering wine it's el cheapo and not good at all. Other than that I had a blast, would definately go back.
Claim jumper's is fantastic, I go there every once and a while and have had a great experience each time. Like the Previous Review stated The prices are relatively cheap. The staff is friendly and are quite knowledgable about the food and the portions... oh the portions are just huge. If you don't go home with a doggy bag then you definately get an applause from me my friend.
PROS: Lots of fun, Fun staff
I'll agree with the other review, KFC has nothing on Popeyes. After living in New Orleans for a while I grew accostomed to having a popeyes at every corner. When I moved back home I definately missed the homestyle cooking boasted by popeyes. The chicken is great and the amazing food doesnt stop there! Make sure you try the biscuts and dirty rice. It's all spicy and all great.
There is also a Popeyes on Jamacha and Main in El Cajon.
PROS: Great Chicken, Life can't get any better!
Casa De Pico's lease was up in old town so they recently moved to Grossmont Center in La Mesa, This is just a little East on Interstate 8 and well worth the drive. Or just take the Blue line to grossmont center and walk! :-D (believe me it's well worth it). Casa De Pico may have moved but their food and local popularity definately has not changed. They have very authentic mexican food and have some of THE BEST margaritas I have had. This is a great family environment in a very central area.
PROS: Great food, Prices aren't too steep
CONS: Forced to move because of lease.. somewhat out of the way.
These people complaining about Old Town being old... COME ON!
Old Town is part of San Diego heritage, it is THE first colony established in California, The southern half of Old Town can be quite touristy although make sure to take a walk over there. Also visit the grave yard south of old town, make sure to look at the streets and notice the little coins labeled "grave site" The grave yard was shortened by about 20 feet many many years ago without moving the occupants (whoops!) It's always fun to suprise a friend with "uh your standing on a dead person". Also towards the north west corner of old town there is an original school house with all original equiptment, It's quite neat to see how children learned in the late 1800's
Make sure to visit the resturants to the very north of Old Town, they have amazing food.
PROS: Amazing atmosphere, quiet area, fun to be found everywhere
