If you are hungry and would enjoy a Chinese Combination Lunch, this is the place for you. Joyce serves some of the biggest portions of good Chinese Food that you will ever see. All lunches come with soup, rice, chow mein, a won ton, egg roll and a very large portion of your favorite item. I love this place and would highly recommend the Hot Wok.
When you talk about good value you might look here if you are in the mood for German Food and other items from that part of Europe. Conveniently located in Woodside Plaza it is alway full of senior citizens looking for a good value, solid food and great parking. Nice staff do an adequate job of making your feel comfortable and the entire experience is pleasant.
If you are thinking about going to New Orleans because you enjoy the food but can't afford the trip, come to Creola where you can enjoy some excellent food and most of those favorites that you associate with eating on Bourbon Street. The service is nice and the prices are not cheap but it can be a great experience if jimbalaya, red beans and rice, gumbo, etc are among your favorite dishes.
King Chuan in my mind is a great place for lunch as they give you a great value on the lunch menu with every meal coming with soup and a nice little salad with a peanut dressing on it. For entree items I like their "beef stew" which is more like a soup and their spicy King Chaun Noodles. If you go at night you can enjoy a beer or some wind at a very reasonable price.
Izzys is a recent San Francisco favorite having a similar place in the Marina District for about 20 years. If you are looking for a nice piece of meat, this is the place for you near the San Carlos Airport. Their scalloped potatoes and creamed spinach are to die for and I also love the wedge salad. If you don't have a reservation you can always eat in the very comfortable bar where their are a number of tv screens generally with some game on. A wonderful place to eat but the prices are not cheap.
I highly recommend Bangkok Bay for lunch or dinner. At lunch they have a large menu of delicious items with rice, soup and salad. The portions are solid and the prices are average. I really enjoy their fried calamari and mossman beef along with all their curries. The owners are very nice people and they make you feel very comfortable. The Singa beer from Thailand is strong so watch yourself if you have two.
Ever had Peruvian food? The meals here are delicious and reasonably priced. They have a wonderful menu including meat, fish and chicken dishes. My favorite is the spicy seafood dish picante mariscos, with shrimp, crawfish and bits of fish in a fabulous sauce. Many of my friends enjoy the Lomo, strips of seasoned beef mixed with french fries. The service is very nice and comfortable and the wine and beer are something of a bargain. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner.
PROS: great food reasonably priced
Sundance is the place to go when you are looking to have a nice piece of beef in a "club atmopsphere" and in this particular restaurant with a Stanford Theme. I have been here many times and find every item to be good but not excellent. The service has always been great and I find it a good place to have a conversation as the tables are somewhat private. Nice place to take mom and dad when they come from out-of -town.
PROS: great atmosphere
Miyake is one of my favorite places. For lunch you get a wide selection of items, all reasonably prices. Their miso soup is some of the best I've ever had and everything on the menu is very good. I have always found their staff to be very helpful, especially with small children. For the really hungry person they have a combination dinnder for about $13 that will feed even my very large teenage son. It can get croweded on the weekends, so beware of that.
PROS: Very good food, reasonably priced
CONS: Can be very noisy
For an elegant evening dining out Marche is a wonderful place to go. I found the service to be excellent and the food fantastic. It is expensive, however, make no mistake about that For that "special evening" this is the "place" in Menlo Park.
PROS: great food and service
CONS: very expensive
