Midas provides a wide range of automotive repair/service.
I've had my brakes replaced, a new radiator installed, the clutch repaired and of course the exhaust system/muffler replaced.
Midas is a reputable company/franchise with standard operating processes and pricing that is competitive. Most of the mechanics there are certified or supervised by a certified mechanic.
PROS: Good Neighborhood business; Standard Repair processes and pricing; Warranty
If you are a follower of Jesus Christ and believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, then this church os for you.
We have a great choir and orchestra for traditional services. Yet, we also have an excellent band for our contemporary service as well.
Our childrens program is second to none in the bay area and our Wednesday AWANA program for children draws 250 on a regular basis.

PROS: Bible Believing Rock Solid Christian Church
I love my local Walgreens because it truely is a neighborhood pharmacy and other things.
Of course, all your prescriptions can be handled by their timely and professional staff. There is a large selection of well organized over the counter medications.
I even like the stationary/office supplies, film, and small food sections as well. One can pick up a quart of milk, ice cream, beauty products, computer disks, etc...
PROS: Excellent Pharmacy. Great Selection of Products. Well Organized
I moved to California in 1990 and started banking with a neighborhood bank called Gilbralter Savings. Within a few years, they were bought out by Security Pacific and then Security Pacific was soon bought by Bank of America.
BofA is a global banking operation and they are very skilled at acquisition, consolidation and optimization. They helped make the transition - which included payroll deposit and safe depoist boxes - relatively painless.
The best feature of BofA is their state of the art online banking. When I was overseas on assignment for 2 years in a 3rd world country, I was still able to pay my monthly bills and never missed a mortgage payment.
PROS: Online Banking is 2nd to none
CONS: Wish they had higher savings interest rates...
Fry's is one of those stores in the Bay Area that you can not live without - but wish you could.
It has a wide variety of EVERYTHING electronic. Multiple vendors, wide range of prices to suite the variety.
Unfortunately, it often seems that I know the store layout and the exact location of where something is located before a sales assistant can figure out who or where they are....
Customer service is very poor. Command of the english language is also lacking which adds to the confusion and the technical uncertianty when advice is absolutely necessary.
PROS: Wide selection, decent pricing, good brand variety
CONS: Customer Service
The HAM Radio Outlet in Sunnyvale is the premier HAM radio outlet for the entire SF/SJ Bay Area. The staff is extremely knowledgable, helpful and friendly too.
They carry a wide range of radios and accessories in stock - and are willing to order anything you can think of.
These are paractioniers as well as salesmen - so they know what they are doing when they make a recommendation.
You can't go wrong there!
PROS: They can get ANYTHING you need for your HAM Radio hookup
This Chinese restaurant is good food, excellent price (three items for under $6) and plenty of parking behind the restaurant.
You can either eat there or take out. Daily specials include fried prawns.
My favorite is the honey chicken and the beef with brocoli.
PROS: Generous portions, good food, fast service, excellent pricing
Thai City is a Thai Food Resturant that is actually owned and run by people from Thailand.
The food is excellent, the location is convenient and the family owners are outstanding community citizens - often donating goods and services to the Palo Alto School PTA functions.
I love their Padthai noodles (although I probably did not spell that correctly!) and Shark Fin soup. Hmmm good!
Give them a try, plenty of parking, great location on El Camino and reasonable pricing too.
PROS: Great Food, Good Loccation, Great Owners!
I think everyone of us has found an injured wild animal at one time or another. Well, Wildlife Rescue Center in Palo Alto takes in all sorts of creatures and nurses them back to health before releasing them in to the wild.
We have had numerous cat/bird tumbles in our neighborhood and unfortunately the birds usually loose out. The staff at the Wildlife Center always takes these birds in. We just pack them up in a shoe box and bring them over and the staff there nurse them back to health.
Since they are a non-profit and funded by donations, we always make one out - though not necessary - when we bring a wounded animal in.
PROS: Excellent Drop Off Center for Injured Wild Life Animals
I have used Village Mail Center to receive my mail in a PO Box # and then have that mail forwarded to me when I was out of the country for 2 years!
The service is excellent, the fees are very reasonable. You can send UPS, FedEx or regular US Postal Service. The company also provide packaging as well as shipping.
THe mail box rentals are competitive in pricing and the mail is placed there on a daily basis - 6 days per week.
PROS: Excellent six day per week service - UPS, USPS and FedEx
