From the moment that I walked into Buckles, I knew that I would find the perfect shoe for my son. I just did not realize that it is the norm to spend $80 on a pair of shoes for a 2 year old. It is here and then some. The shoes were perfect for the wedding that he was in but the $80 price tag still shocks me to this day. It has been more than a year and I still cannot tell my husband how much the shoes were. :) On a positive note, they have the finest European shoes that are made for children and I love shopping there.
PROS: European Brands and High Quality Children's Shoes
CONS: Very Very Expensive
Henri's Bakery is the bakery in Atlanta for cookies, cakes and pies. One whiff of the delectable treats and you know that you are so close to heaven. The chefs at Henri's Bakery know quality and spare no expense with the pastry's. They will even make something for you if you don't see it there. The only downside is that you must order everything ahead for holidays or you run the risk of not being able to get what you want. Yummy!
PROS: Delicious Works of Art
CONS: Order early for holidays
Marmi used to be the place to go for reasonably priced shoes in a wide variety of sizes. I have that impossible to fit foot which on most days is a 9 but sometimes is a 9 Wide or a 9 1/2 wide or even a 10 depending on the designer. I used to buy several pairs of shoes each season from Marmi because I could get them at great prices and the size that I needed. The shoes now are much more expensive but they still have a great range of sizes.
PROS: Wide range of sizes
CONS: No lower price range shoes anymore
One walk into this store and you know that they had kids in mind when building it. Your children can play dress up or watch a video while you shop. I thought that every pair of shoes would be high priced but was pleasantly surprised to find an excellent range of prices. All the top brands and then some are represented here. Even better when you can get those name brands off of the sale table. What a shopping treat!
PROS: Stylish Footwear for Kids
The Garden Hills pool is nestled among the houses in the historic Garden Hills area of Buckhead. You may pass it by the first time. The pool is large, clean and has several lifeguards available at all times. You can get a family rate for the summer or pay the drop in fees to swim occasionally. There is a great park attached to the pool area and a large soccer field as well. This is the perfect place to swim, picnic and play.
PROS: Summer Fun for the Family
CONS: Crowded sometimes
I love The Children's Place for clothing for kids. They have the latest styles, colors and always have some good sale going on. I tend to shop the sale racks a lot but the everyday prices are usually pretty reasonable. Stay away from the high priced pajamas. The Children's Place outlet is the best place to buy cheap clothing as well. They are located in Calhoun and more than worth the drive.
PROS: The Place for clothes
Who knew that pre-teens wanted to be so trendy? One walk into The Gap Kids and you know that the latest styles are literally running out the door on these young kids. I literally dread the day my son asks for a $60 pair of jeans but I know it is coming. The clothing is very high quality and the sale racks have the best deals around.
PROS: Hip Trendy Clothes for Kids
I love the Baby Gap and it has been around as long as I have. My entire family wears Gap clothing but I have hard time buying a $40 pair of pants for a 3 year old. The best days at Baby Gap for me are those when I scour the sale racks and find what I was coveting all season at regular price. Sale prices are really a steal on Gap clothing and always make the trip worth it. They also have the best non-skid socks for kids.
PROS: Long Lasting Quality Clothing
I have been a Gymboree shopper since the birth of my first child. I love the clothing but find the non-sale clothing to be extremely expensive. Gymboree does offer matching outfits for boys and girls alike. My money is best spent on the awesome sale deals that are available almost always in the back of the store. I find shirts for $2.99 and pants for $4.99. I have the best dressed kid and no one knows that I did it on a budget.
PROS: Awesome Sale Deals
CONS: Expensive Everyday Clothes
This is another of the boutique stores in Buckhead that you should definitely visit. I got some great gift ideas and decorating ideas just from a few visits. They have personalized items from bibs to pacifiers. The owners seemed a little too busy buying new items for the store the several times that we were shopping but they carry some great items.
PROS: Great Store
CONS: Very High Prices
