I go to Dr. Coutifaris only as a regular Obgyn patient. The office is very soothing, the wait is short, the staff intelligent and kind. They call in your prescriptions right away and getting an appointment does not involve a 5 months wait. The only thing that I don't like is that they have too many interns and you really never get to talk to the doctor. The interns are not so knowledgeable or fast. But I think this has become a very common practice in all hospitals these days.
PROS: environment, speed, availability
Even though you have to wait a long time and they can't always offer you free medicine or services, I am grateful simply for the fact that they exist. When I was a student and did not have money for check ups of contraceptives, they were there. When I loft my job recently and did not have insurance, they were there. They are professional, understanding, and courteous, and mostly free. Women in America and all over the world NEED this kind of support and PP is here for us!
PROS: cheap, avaialbe, understanding
CONS: wait times
The decoration of the lobby and offices gives off a feeling of medical yet luxurious care to the whole place. All the staff is female although more than half of the patients were male to my big surprise. The practitioners are strictly licenced nurses. They have many different lasers for hair removal as well as skin conditions like spider veins and discolorations. They remove tattoos as well. I think the best part for me was their incredibly amicable client associates. So far I can't speak of the results of my hair removal b/c i have only had 2 sessions.
PROS: location, customer service, quality
CONS: may not work, but that's not guaranteed anywhere
The only thing missing is tables outside. But this charming little eatery on Walnut and 7th is the favorite place for most Washington Square business peoples. There are tables in the back and the front of the bistro. One area is smoking as well as the bar. The menu although rather limited is very tasty. Portabella salads and sandwiches. Oranigina, GREAT chocolate mooses and pyramids. And of course great coffee :)
PROS: lunch specials, decent prices, smoking allowed
CONS: the manager who "made" the place recently left. New staff is not so nice.
Her small salon is sandwiched between the giant and busy office buildings on Walnut and 16th. Vanessa is a beautiful and absolutely adorable lady. She puts you at ease immediately. She is class and does only class. For example she would not do stencils, or stick things on your nails if you beg her. She does a full bikini wax as well. I was not impressed with that but it could just be that waxing is just not for me. The only reason why I don't go back to her often is her high price.
PROS: quality, class, reputable and classy clientelle
These girls are the best I have found so far. The pedicures are long and thorough like nowhere else. They dent to take off alot more than other places do. The nail polish lasts for weeks. The only reason why i go back every 2 weeks is because my nails grow out. But the polish is still intact. They are also like a big family. Everyone in there knows each other and we have a great time going there. The girls are also very fast. Skilled and fast!
PROS: Skill, fast, friendly, cheaper than most.
CONS: somtimes you have to wait a long time if you come without appointment
You'll get that every time you come to Helga's. the big pluses here are: fantastic head massage and shampoo. The best I have ever experienced. Great communication with the client. They take their time to figure out what you want before they just on your hair. And then at the end of the session, the price is very very moderate. I feel like a million dollars walking out of there and you've spent nearly half of what the other salons will charge you for the same. The decore is very modern, artistic and pleasant as well.
PROS: quality of service, friendly personel, price, center city location
CONS: haven't found one yet
I've done over a year and half of treatment there and I have very poor results. I know and have read a lot about eletrolysis and I know for a fact that they do not use the most efficient methods. I guess this flies with most unaware and inexperienced people who get treatments, but it's not honest. They do what they can to prolong the treatment and not fully kill the hairs so that you have to come there for years. In addition to that, they refuse to give me the rest of my deposited money b/c i want to leave there. They are holding several thousand dollars of mine and now i have to go to court to get it back. I would never go there if i had to start this all over again. And certainly never accept their "package offers"
PROS: cheapest in the city
