Whether you are starting a business or operating an established business, the SMCollege Small Business Development Center has a variety of free seminars and counseling programs to assist you. I have taken a few of their classes as well as met with several counselors in regards to starting my business. They are very attentive, helpful and eager to see you succeed! Even if you are just thinking about it one day it's worth getting to know the staff over there. Some of the areas they offer assistance are: financing, business planning, strategic planning, marketing and sales, legal issues, web design, accounting, and other business related areas.
Randwell is a very small production company run by it's Executive Producer Randy Robinson. They make Movies for Television for Lifetime and other major networks, and are always reading submissions from the local writers. Randwell is known for it's "sophisticated" and "edgy" movie style so let's hope the movie of the week doesn't die completely anytime soon! Randy is extremely easy going and fun to work with. He also has the mind of a steel trap and a nose for business. Partnering with him on a film project is always a pleasure.
We used High Mountain for assembly of photo CD's for press kits, and DVD duplications. He also offers website design and equipment rentals at competitive prices. Very professional and by using him you are supporting a neighborhood independent vendor which means you get lots of care and attention to your job. Great turnaround rate too!
We had a retreat here and the rooms were super cute although small. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and they gave us plenty of spaces to hold our various workshops and gatherings. There is a restaurant/bar right next door that is the perfect place to watch the sunset over drinks, but it gets a bit rowdy after hours when it turns into a bar. The beach is literally steps away and dogs are welcome. Perfect place to get married with an ocean view in the background!
If you are planning a weekend or longer getaway to SB you need to come stay in this adorable little home. It sleeps 8 easily and is decorated to perfection. It has a hot tub, a hammock and plenty of patio furniture in it's amazing garden areas to feel like you are in the most exotic place ever. You can't help but relax here, and you are only a few block to the beach! State street is a 5min drive, and Santa Ynez Wine tasting is around a 45 min drive but super easy to find. Perfect for a girl's getaway, family vacation or etc. Everyone will be very comfortable here. I am going back for sure!
I went here with a group of girls and we were escorted in for free because we made friends with one of the doormen at another club and although it was crowded, it was huge with plenty of room to grab a spot to dance. The DJ was super cool and the music was great. The crowd was filled with your typical bar-flies but for the most part we avoided eye contact with the cheesy students on the prowl. I didn't drink here so I can't tell you about the caliber of the drinks or prices- but if you want to dance the night away, I bet you won't be disappointed if you go here.
CONS: LONG lines if you don't know someone to get you in. Go early to avoid that or schmooze the door guy at "Wildcat"- maybe he'll walk you over.
Okay so if you are looking for a great place to dance, this could be fun for the earlier part of your night- however, after say 11pm they bring out the sexy pole dancers and the vibe turns from rocking to grinding. If you are not interested in being scammed on by weird guys with thick mustaches or have you space invaded by the exchange student, you should leave early and head down the road to Tonic instead. Better music, better DJ's and no half-naked girls shaking their booty.
The decor, the people, the piano player, the drinks, the view. Super romantic, super chill, super spendy! There is something about being here that makes you feel like you need to spend a ton of cash to fit in, but if you can get past that and enjoy the view and the people watching, it's worth a look and a guaranteed winner date spot.
I work nearby and so when I got the address for a girl's night to this place and realized I could WALK there from work I was ecstatic. It was such an interesting experience. We arrived late- the vibe went from cozy and romantic to clubby and chic. We grabbed a comfortable corner and people watched while sipping on the specialty drinks. But watch out if you order the "house wine"... it was THE MOST expensive! I have never paid $24 for a glass let alone for an entire bottle so you better believe I nursed that baby all night long. It was definately worth a look, but a little overpriced and all because of the sweet location.
The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is the wait time. The place is always crowded. So much so that I start to wonder if people have jobs in that area. And then I realize that I am there too...
Try the poached breakfast. Amazing. Or the bread pudding breakfast with baked apples. It's so completely bad for you that it's to die for! Oh yeah sure, you can get something healthy and organic like their many salads and soups but if you do sip on the Spanish latte -- you won't be sorry!
