For those people looking for a Chinese food spot that does not serve or cook with pork, this is your place. Although the establishment is small and not much different from your typical corner Chinese food restaurant, the food is more than "typical." The lines that sometimes pour outside the side doors of customers waiting to place their orders more than testifies to this fact.
My first visit to Zemams was with a group of close to 10 friends. The service was very fast and the food was absolutely delicious. Diners sit around a table and eat from a common plate, an Ethiopian custom of dining. Entrees are placed on a huge round piece of injera, an Ehtiopian bread. An excellent dining experience at an affordable price!
A native New Yorker who attended the University of Arizona, I often found myself missing the tastes and foods that are uniquely New York. I particularly missed NY pizza and was delighted to find a pizzeria that could produce a pizza slice that rivaled that of what I was acquainted with back home. Brooklyn Pizza is definitely worthy of their name. The food is delicious and the prices are fair.
For all my fellow-New Yorkers living in Tucson who are craving a nice big greasy slice of pizza rivaling that of the local corner pizza spots back home, rush to Brooklyn Pizza. You won't be disappointed.
I am acquainted with the owner and her family. She started off providing the comfort of home-cooked daily lunch to the Muslim student population at the local mosque. However, eventually she was able to turn a wonderful community service into a full-fledged business, however she remains committed to her original customers.
The food is absolutey delicious. I particularly like the chicken shwarma and the basmati rice with raisins and carrots. Also, try the eggplant appetizer with the home-made Afghan bread.
The decor of the restaurant is authentically Afghani. There is even a section where you can eat on the floor under beautiful red silk fabric draped over you like a tent. All of the decor was made by the owner.
I no longer live in Tucson, but I crave the food of Sultan Palace and can't wait to get back for some more of Deeba's home-made Afghan cooking.
One of the few non-chain dining establishments in the area and one of the even fewer Chinese food spots, Ming Moon serves up your every-day Chinese food with a taste that rivals that of big city establishments. Has an area for dining-in however I have always ordered to-go. Quick service. Excellent results!
I am acquainted with the family who owns this fine establishment. They have had a restaurant in the area for years and are dedicated to their community and their many long-time customers. They renovated the building after it was burnt down and the ambiance is beautiful. It is bright and uniquely Egyptian. The food is delicious and the service is friendly. The entree portions are just right. Most of the food is your usual American diner cuisine, which is the only thing that stops me from giving it 5 stars.
