A romantic atmosphere, decent service and great food. Great sushi and I hear it has great cocktails as well. If you want to go on a friday or saturday night you may need a reservation.
This is the real diner deal. It is decorated to look like an old 50's diner. The menu is huge and everything comes out fast and hot. The prices are very decent as well. It is almost always packed, but I have never had trouble finding a seat. Great place to grab a bite.
On the outside, Moonshine looks like the type of place that would serve rustic, hearty food, layed back service, and great rock music in the back round with the occasional live band. However, once you step inside you see how that is all one big facade. Last time I went there, my meal was disrupted by a huge group of loud, drunken business men watching the game with Britney Spears playing in the back round. Yes, Britney Spears, followed by N'Sync and Pink. I kid you not. At a bar, called Moonshine. Let's hear some Stones, or Sabbath or Tool or something with a decent guitar line. If I wanted to go to a yuppie bar, I would go to Harry Carry's. This place is a blemish on the face of west town. But really, the food is very good. Especially the pork chops. But I guess I could always make those at home....
Everyone that works in the area goes to Soup Box for lunch. Especially this time of year. They have a great selection of soups from classic chicken noodle to lobster bisque to vegan friendly fire roasted veggie. They will give you as much bread as you want, and it's always hot and fresh. The service is really good too, for some reason they only hire 20 something male college students...
This is my favorite pizza place because the crust is thin and crunchy (the way it should be) but it still has all that ooey-gooey cheese on top. The other cool thing is you don't even have to order a whole pizza. You can get half of one for half the price!
The owner of this very small cafe works every morning and she is a sweetheart! She only uses fresh and natural foods, all made to order. Mini homemade muffins, seasonal salads, panino, and the only good organic coffee in the area. If you stop by in the morning while waiting for 66 bus, she may even give you a free mini muffin, while it's still hot!
Two years ago, I would have not eaten because I was afraid of raw fish...or cooked fish for that matter. But I developed a taste for Japanese food and this place is perfect. It is close to home, cozy and not pricey. But the best part is that the main chef will create a dish for you if you ask him to. I told him I din't like to eat raw fish and he created something that was still sushi-like but was deep fried and delicious! A great place for beginners or life long sihi fans!
Argo Tea is the perfect place to sit down and get some homework done. The people there are wicked friendly and knowledgeable about tea. Ask them about their new loose teas available on the tea wall. The Blueberry and White Tea is delicious! Plus the drink prices are spot on. Strangely enough, their coffee is way better than Starbucks!
The food is ok, the service is ok, but the owner is the worst! Last time I wnet there he swore at our waitress right infront of our face. Not to mention the price of food.
This is the perfect little place to eat and share a drink for any couple living in the village. Ask for the fried cheese balls, they aren't on the menu but they are so yummy!
