Teddy Bs Restaurant is your average diner-ish restaurant. The food is not great. It is very run of the mill, burgers, sandwiches, and pizza. I, for one, do not care for their pizza. It is sort of Greek style, and the crust is way too chewy. The place is clean and bright, and the staff is efficient and parking is plentiful. You could do better, and you could do worse.
The Fantastic Umbrella Factory is an amazing collection of buildings and goods, tucked in and around incredible gardens, and a petting zoo. The Umbrella factory is really hard to explain to someone who has never been. There are a few small 'hippie' shops that sell incense, hemp and natural fiber clothing, beads and other odds and ends. Small Axe productions is an amazing collection of goods from far away countries, imported legally and at a fair price to their producers. Carvings, musical instruments and clothing from all around the world can be found there at incredible prices. The staff is very nice. If you go give yourself hours if you want to see it all!
Munsons Chocolates are Connecticut's premier chocolate producers. With stores all over the state, they are convenient to visit. Once in their Orange store, you are confronted with so many delectable choices, it is hard to control yourself and pick just a few. The prices are excellent when you consider the quality of the confections. The staff is very nice, and there is plenty of parking.
We tried River Dale Farm Camp Sites this year instead of the park where we usually camp. It was a very pleasant change of place. The campsites are nicely spaced, with a wide variety of options at various sites. Some even had electricity and cable hookups! We opted to stay in one of their new rustic cabins. There were six of us, and we had plenty of room, except for maybe in the bathroom, where the shower stall was very small. There were plenty of planned family activities, as well as tennis, basket ball and a playground to play at. There were teen dances on weekend nights. The camp store had all of the necessities, including 25 cent popsicles for the kids. The staff was nice, and worked hard to balance the fun kids want to have, with the safety rules they need to observe.
Harmon Cosmetics is a health and beauty aid super store! They have products there you can't find anywhere else, and at terrific prices. I make sure to make a trip there every December to fill my daughter's Christmas Stockings. I fill them almost entirely from this one store. The staff is very helpful, and there is plenty of parking.
I have had the pleasure of visiting with many of the residents of Beacon Brook Health Center for various reasons. When ever I have gone here, I am always pleased to find the residents in good spirits, clean and happy. The rooms are usually spotless, and the normal smell that hangs over other facilities, seems to be absent. The staff has always treated us warmly and made us feel at home.
Chubbas makes really good bagels. When you enter the shop, the incredible smell of baked goods hits you. There is a wide selection of flavors and toppings available. The bagels are always fresh. The staff is always friendly, the store is always clean. Parking can be a bit tight at times.
For our breakfast meetings, people often bring in the goodies from What About a Bagel. They are always so fresh, with a wide selection of flavors and spreads for the top. They are easy to find on Newtown Rd, just down from Walmart. Parking is abundant, the prices are good and the staff is always cheerful.
Goldsmiths Art & Frame Shoppe has the most beautiful and varied collection of art in the greater Waterbury area. You are likely to find anything from landscapes to portraits to still-lifes. Many are in example frames, but customization of the frame is always available. Their selection of frames is as inspired as their collection of art. Their prices are on par with those of other establishments of this type, and the service is always very friendly. It can be a bit tricky to park on Bank St, but it is well worth the trip.
Lillian Carroll is a beautiful boutique full of gorgeous dresses. From the minute you walk in, you a treated like royalty. The selection is dazzling and the service can not be beat. It is easy to find on Main St. just about across from the post office. The prices are a bit higher than in department stores, but you will not match the quality and service you will receive at Lillian Carroll.
