This was one of the most memorable stops on a driving trip from Anchorage to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. The Christmas themed building has a resident Santa and if you can imagine it being made into a decoration it has been done! As we were there on July 4th we found a very cute Uncle Sam decoration as a keepsake. GREAT candy counter, too!
From the signs on the bathroom doors to the kids artwork on the posts this place is a pigsty! And I mean that in a good way! Pigs, pigs, everywhere pigs. The decor in this restaurant is just too cute and the food is your basic diner style, fresh, hot and served with a smile!
This little airport is very well laid out and runs efficiently. It can be kind of scary landing in daylight because of how close it is to the water's edge, but once on the ground the taxi to the terminal is quick and the employees friendly.
You will feel like you are literally at the top of the world after the long trip to get to Prudhoe Bay/Deadhorse, AK. There isn't much when you get there, but what is there is a testament to the versatility of man to make any environment inhabitable! Take LOTS and LOTS of mosquito repellant and check out this hotel & restaurant. You will find good basic food, but not a lot of fresh veggies. When you get there you will know why!
You wouldn't think you could find this stuff in a remote place like Anchorage, but they never failed to have the parts we needed...and LOTS that we didn't. Taking a computer or electronics junkie here is like turning a kid loose in a candy store!
If the weather is warm enough to sit out on the high deck patio you will LOVE the views, especially at dusk when the lights reflect off the water. THe food food is WONDERFUL and you should try the beer sampler from their microbrewery. Great selections, cool stuff in the gift shop area and very good service. WELL worth a stop!
The interior of this restaurant is so cool. With all the prerequisite stuffed dead critters there is also a lot of antiques, including the BEAUTIFUL backbar and frontbar area. One of the tables in the restaurant section is set inside an old elevator car for a nice semi-private dinner. The food is basic home cooking type stuff with the expected fresh fish items and the service is friendly and attentive.
There are a lot of things inside this building, including a cafe and many meeting places. THe cafe has good food for a reasonable price and because of the location of this place is probably the easiest place to eat when attending a function there. Good thing it is a decent place to eat!
Love the specialty coffees at those expensive shops? Make them at home for 1/4th of the cost! I order my syrups here by the case and a case only costs about the same as a doze of those pricey large lattes! The selection of sugar free syrups is MUCH better than you find in any coffee shop and when you are diabetic that is a big deal!
I came across this business on an unrelated search for something and now my husband has cute ties for every occassion! At work they call him The Tie Guy and ask all the time where he gets them. THe quality of their products is great and shipping is fast! Ties arrive pressed, well packaged and ready to wear!
