I like the idea of a water store. Super efficient, to have a place to go where you can only buy one thing. Well, unless you count ice. Seriously though, the guys at this water store are super helpful and nice, have helped me carry the 5 gallon jugs out to the car, and it is actually a very easy way to stock up on ice if you don't have to go to the super market and just want some fast. Have no idea how they stay in business, but I suppose that isn't my problem.
This family owned coffee shop has been a favorite of mine since they first opened their doors. They are in no way efficient- you need to not be in a rush to get your coffee- but it is a excellent cup of coffee once you get it. They also have panini and breakfast sandwiches and free wi-fi. I especially like their beautiful decor...it is clean and simple, but nice. They film some scenes from "The Office" here so it might look familiar to you. Coffee prices are comparable to one of those chain places, but I like supporting the little guy.
When I had my second child, a friend of mine brought me take out from El Gallo Giro. We got carnitas and beans and rice and tortillas. We ate for days...it was so good. We haven't been back, but I am really looking forward to it when we do. Delicious.
Ok, these are not NY bagels...but they are decent, tasty bagels, nonetheless. There is a great selection of flavors, the bagels are reasonably sized, so you can eat a whole one without the feeling you just ate a week's worth of carbs...their alternative bagels and pita are amazing, if you are watching your figure. You can get fresh cream cheese, flavored if you want it, and a decent cup of coffee, with a nice assortment of things to put in it. Cash or check only.
Their danishes and sweetbreads look like meals into themselves, and they even serve breakfast bagel options, with egg and bacon, etc. They will even toast and cream cheese one if you want. They are open 24 hours a day and are the main factory, so you know you're getting the freshest there is. Staff is friendly, and will let you know what has just come out of the oven if you ask. They even sometimes give my toddler a mini bagel to nibble on when we go in.
If you live in the valley and you haven't been to Nat's...you are missing out. They have great food for breakfast and lunch at good prices. Star seekers may even find some folks chowing down there. I love the corned beef hash and eggs breakfast. The service is fast and friendly, the food is good, plentiful, and fairly priced. It is a winner.
Great ice cream dipped cones for cheap...tasty onion rings, and a menu of greasy fattening options. Perfect for one of "those" days. The parking is decent, as it shares a parking lot with a CVS and a Jons Market. There are picnic tables for eating outside, but since it is on Sepuleva Blvd, it isn't like you have any ambiance. The neighborhood may seem a touch shady...but in the daytime, you're fine.
I really enjoy this Italian restaurant. The pizza is good, and refreshingly made with real cheese. The noodles are homemade and the sauces are decent, especially the meat sauce. It is a definite throwback, but in this world of chain restaurant oppression, it is a nice change. I feel quite comfortable going with my kids, or my friends, and while they don't do delivery, they have a very easy drive up service. They are a little pricier than a regular pizza place, but you can tell the quality of the ingredients is much better than one of those places.
My family loves this chinese food place, when we are really exceptionally hungry. We usually have it delivered, which is free within a certain radius and with a minimum, and we feel the way to go is their combo meal. 2 or 3 item combo and you are set for several meals. I particularly like their Beef/Broccoli and their BBQ pork. They serve a ton of food and it costs very little. This is down home chinese food cooking...a little like Panda Express. They aren't going to win culinary awards, but it is tasty, and for the amount of food at the price, it is an amazing deal.
The atmosphere may be lacking, but the food sure isn't. I love the burritos here, they are big and flavorful and super reasonably priced. The staff is nice, the menu is decently varied, and have I mentioned the burritos? Mmm. The carne asada tacos are quite tasty as well. Hope you like spicy!
This fun neighborhood restaurant is a nice place to go for a casual family dinner...but the service took forever! Make sure you plan on enough activities for the kids, and don't be impatient. The food is good, and I love their Pupusa deal- only 99cents on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
