Portola Valley doesn't have many restaurants but this is a great restaurant to sit, relax and take your time. It is off the beaten path nestled in Portola Valley They have outdoor seating and the air smells delightfully piney. Not a large restaurant but good ambiance. Very good food and excellent service. It is upscale California dining. Take the other half to lunch or dinner and enjoy a nice quiet get away feeling.
The place is huge on the inside. The food is authentic traditional dishes. I love the pollo a la parilla (grilled chicken in a savory chile verde-type sauce, with a hint of lime and comes with rice and black beans and the enchiladas are topped with chile colorado and come with Mexican rice and refried beans . Yum! The family wait staff is very friendly and accommodating. By the way their salsa is excellent.
The atmosphere is a cozy Italian place. It's warm, cozy, and even romantic. The servers are also true Italians!! My husband had the special mushroom parpadelle, which was fabulous. I ordered the vegetable panini and it was good. Liked my husbands better. Everything was very fresh and homemade. We also enjoyed a side dish of sauteed broccoli with garlic, chile flakes and olive oil. the staff is very attentive. Water glass never empty. Too stuffed for dessert, but the sounded yummy.
My husband and I love Vivace restaurant. The restaurant is authentic and service is impeccable. The olive oil dip was very good. I believe it had some roasted garlic and some chopped fried garlic in it. Impressive wine list. Their pasta & pizza are quite delicious. Attentive, polite and efficient staff. Alaskan halibut with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach was great. I recommend it.
We had the butterscotch creme brulee for dessert. Loved it!!
I just love walking down Half Moon Bay Main Street! They have the most unique shops. One in particular is the Tu Pueblo. It has a very good variety of Mexican Folk art. My oldest daughter, who is into the Day of the Dead art loves this place. I already bought some Christmas gifts for her from there. I believe all the products are handmade by artisans throughout Mexico. If you are looking for a very unique gift check out Tu Pueblo. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.
My husband and I just love going to the Miramar restaurant for lunch. We were just there on Saturday and and had the seafood chowder soup. It was delicious. We also split a crab melt sandwich. It also was very good. The waiter (wish I could remember his name) was fabulous. Very professional and on top of things. He set up our sandwich on two different plates since we were splitting it. Very classy. Of course we had a window table which overlooks the beautiful ocean. After lunch, walk right onto the beach for a stroll. The weather was ok...but the lunch and company ...GREAT!
After many times of the kids badgering me I finally went in to Speederia Pizzeria. I can say that I love their sauce. My fav pizza is the Whitestone with mozzarella, parmesan, ricotta, fresh basil, & garlic. The crust is thin and as I understand it the authentic NY style. The kids love their pepperoni and cheese. The staff is friendly and service is fast. Since I was only buying slices these pizzas are premade and under heat lamps. Understandable. I have yet to order a whole pizza. Our next pizza night will be from
I have been diagnosed with severe OSA. Thanks to the Stanford Sleep Disorder Clinic, I am almost getting a decent night's sleep.
The office staff are all very friendly. The one drawback is trying to make an appt. The phone will ring and ring and then pick your options and then wait....a very long time to make an appt. Always before you leave the clinic make your next appt right then. I stayed over night in the older of the two buildings and did the actual hook up of approx. 30 electrodes and slept that way. The nurses were all very professional and friendly. The results were astonishing and will lead to other visits with drs., etc. This too shall pass!
I have severe sleep apnea. After using the cpap machine for about a month now, I was told about Dr. Li. I made and appt to asses my situation and see about the corrective surgery. After talking with Dr. Li, I feel very confident that he is the right doctor to do my surgery. He is professional and personable. I felt very much at ease talking with Dr. Li. He answered all my questions and gave me his number if I had further questions. I will get a second opinion, but my choice of to do the actual surgery will be Dr. Li.
My husband and I went into the Hearth and Home on Laurel Street in San Carlos to find a fireplace screen. They have a good variety and you can get custom made. I assume the prices are competitve. There are not a lot of these type of shops in the local bay area. The woman helping us, the only one in the shop (not sure if owner) has a blah personality. She could have cared less if we bought or not.
We knew what we wanted and did get a price but honestly if she was a bit more enthusiastic about a sale we would have placed our order.
