Sound Exchange, in the Packanack Lake Shopping Center on RT 23N in Wayne is a good old fashioned record store. If you (or your teenage children) are looking for music above and beyond American Idol/Top 40, this is the place to go. Lots of Indy, out of print, imports, bootlegs, and even tons of vinyl for those of us who still remember 45s and LPs. It's been there at least since the 70s, the service is great, the loud music blasting from the ceiling speakers is usually good. The prices may be a little higher, but they've got stuff that Walmart has never heard of. Check it out.
Every now and then I visit Bobby's for a couple of bacon, egg and cheese on hard rolls and I've never been disappointed. In my opinion no one locally comes close. The rolls are crusty, not mushy like the ones from QuikChek, and they don't skimp on the bacon.
The service is great, very friendly, even when they're busy.
I've been getting my Chinese take-out from Guan Long for many years. The food is pretty good but the service is bizarre, to say the least. The female owner is OK, the male owner is always in a bad mood, but the worst part of going there is the young man who stands in the back. He may be the son of the owners, and he scares the hell out of me. The first time he saw me he said what I think was "Hi". So I responded in kind. But since then whenever he is there, when he sees me he starts yelling at me in Chinese. One time his mother had to restrain him from coming at me! For some reason I seem to set him off. I really like the food, but I'm starting to wonder if one day he'll come at me with a cleaver. I've heard of food to die for, but this is ridiculous.
By far the best burgers around. None of the chains, including Applebee's and Chili's come close! I'd only gone there for breakfast, which I've enjoyed, but my first cheeseburger deluxe was so good it was almost like a religious experience. If you like burgers this is the place. And the service is great.
Zapp Comics in Wayne is a special place, not only for kids, but for parents as well. I've been going their with my son for over ten years, and watched him graduate from Batman comics to Batman graphic novels. I also get a chance to relive my own childhood, seeing comics I owned when I was a kid, before my mom threw mine out! (It is especially depressing when I see the prices of the old books, many in the hundred dollar range.)
There are not only comics at Zapp, but baseball cards, Toys, Poke Mon cards, posters, etc.
It's a fun place to walk through, the service is great, your kids will love it and so will you.
I used to work in the area and we would order from them nearly every day, almost always something different. The fried calimari is by far the best pizza place calimari I've ever had. The Sicilian Pie is also fabulous, as well as their cheese steak sub with the works.
Their deliveries were always within the promised time frame, and walk-in customers were always greeted promptly, no matter how busy the place was.
Their regular pie is just OK, but everything else on the menu is simply outstanding. Highly recommended.
