I really enjoy The Dresden Room. It's one of my favorite after work spots. A place that I forget about more often than I should. Such a hidden jewel! Good drinks, Good people.
To me, the best place to sit is on the patio-- you can do major people watching from there. Be prepared to choose from a very large menu. Good food, good location, very good times.
I can't say enough about Dr. B and his staff. I have bad teeth and they take care of me without making me feel like a jerk! They are kind, sweet, and Dr. B is a riot! The first place that didn't gag me while x-rays, hurt me during cleanings, or make me feel bad. I have sent countless friends to Dr. B and all love him. He took care of two emergency situations that several other dentists couldn't. Dr. B also did my veneers --several times in fact, until we found a lab and look that we loved-- now that is commitment and care!
There isn't a health professional that I love more than Dr. song. She is so kind, so nice, and she even found the freckle in my eye that others couldn't! Not only is she awesome at what she does but she has a fabulous selection of frames (both eyeglasses and sunglasses). My favorite thing about Dr. Song is that she has a great eye and good taste, so she can help you pick out frames that will make you look hot! Also, it's OK if you forget your insurance card-- she can look you up in the big eyecare database thing.
Okay, so let me say that the Gas Lite IS awesome. It's open a 6am, it's small, they have free popcorn and a few good bartenders. They also have karaoke.
The problem is that many UCLA students have taken over so it can be a bit trendy and less divey. The time to go is on spring break when all the kids have gone home. The place gets packed though. The karaoke is cool but the facilitator not so much. She tends NOT to stick to the list (letting everyone bribe their way to the top-- or just make friends with her), she doesn't adjust the mic so often you can't hear the singer. Look, I love the place-- but good management could make a few tweaks to make it better.
Very cool scene. Somewhere that Bond would hang out for sure. White and modern decor (kind of like a big ice cube). DJ, cool bartenders (although my liquid cocaine wasn't made right, but you shouldn't be drinking those anyway!). Really cool! Good sushi place next door.
I have such a soft spot for Porto's. Their food is amazing. I love going in the morning and having some potato balls (sooo goood!)! Their Opera cake is amazing! You can order ahead-- they have great stuff! Great for picking up treats for a party. The dessert is to die for. I love this place. It makes Atkins dieters want to cringe because the bread is great. Grand Central Station of greatness!
Salt Creek is a good place. I agree the service can suck. Good brunch but pretty expensive. I would have ranked it much higher because their desserts are phenomenal, and the real reason for going, but since their pastry chef has left I'm not sure...we'll see what happens with that.
The biggest cups of coffee that I've ever had. It's such a cute little place. Perfect place to enjoy breakfast with a book, or a group of friends. Food is very yummy and has a lot of love in it!
Hamburger Mary's is SO much fun! Food is good, people are fun, can get quite crowded on weekend nights. "Drag Queen Bingo" night is the best, but anytime is good!
