I love the Blue Room and I love Leonard the bartender. Leonard always creates "new drinks" and hooks you up big time! The place is a cool dive bar, and it is in fact "blue" on the inside. They have a digital j.box, which is pretty awesome, darts, and a variety of people. It's a great place, and don't miss it on Halloween!
I really like Eggs 'n' Things. They give you complimentary yummy crepes while you're waiting for your food and their country friend steak with biscuits and gravy are great(and I have southern blood in me)!
You have to get there early on the weekend though because this place gets packed!!
I love the Lazy Daisy. It's so cute. It's a little yellow cottage like place and it's just great. Has a small indoor area that has maybe 6 small tables and a small patio that seats a bit more. Super good but gets packed on the day of the farmer's market (Saturdays). Really good, really sweet.
Had a break-up breakfast there and the Lazy Daisy still made it a good breakfast!
Bar Celona which is a very cool tapas place. It's full of red and black decor, comfortably chic. We hung out on one of the couches since we weren't eating dinner. Good appetizers, okay drinks (I don't recommend the white Sangria). There is a room by the bar that drops down a bit which gives it a "separated feel" with wall size big screens--perfect for a party!
This place is pretty cool, but yes, hard to find!
Things to know: Cash only, no hard liquor, bring quarters for Pac-Man game, and get ready to feel like your hanging in your "really cool friend's" basement.
AMAZING. Dark lighting- very much the feeling of an old Hollywood bar. Their happy hour is until 9pm, where all well drinks, house wines, and beers are $3.00. Martinis are only $4.00 (From what I gather the "Hot and Dirty" is fab).Their food is AMAZING. They have this mango and brie quesadilla that will rock your world... and a tomato and feta pizza that makes your mouth scream with yummyness!
I found a great restaurant on La Brea and Wilshire called Luna Park. It's really quite wonderful.. but request a booth. They're worth the wait. They come with cute little sheer curtains that make you feel fabulous, and block you from the rest of the people. They also have cook your own dessert! Yum Yum. I highly recommend the Mahi Mahi paired with their Reisling.
I'm not sure where to even start! Opaque dining is such an eye opening remarkable experience. I don't recommend this for a first date. You are led, and escorted to your table, in a PITCH black room by a legally blind person. Your waiter/ress will also be legally blind. Let me tell ya-- it's not the same as just closing your eyes.. there is NO light. I don't want to ruin the experience so I will just say, it's awakening, interesting, different, exciting, scary, uncomfortable, brilliant! Great food, great time, AMAZING!
NOBAR is a cool little spot. Nested in North Hollywood but could just as well fit in if it were in Hollywood. The drinks are pretty good, great interior (dim lighting), pool table. Quite swanky. They have really cool wallpaper. Nice chill little neighborhood bar. Offset room an pool table area would be PERFECT for a party!
Lucy's 51 on Riverside drive. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how cool it was once we walked in. The front is kind of dark and dreary so be sure not to judge the book by its cover. It's the usual dark, red, black, as rock and roll as Toluca Lake can get. Cool vibe-- interesting mix of people. I have had great experiences with the guy bartenders and no so great with the female ones (ironically and sadly). I've heard the food is good and the place gets pretty packed. Not a bad place to go if you have nothing else to do.
