I love this bar. It's small, sexy, and dark, red, black, and simple. Very chill. They have great service and really friendly bar tenders. They don't serve food but they have local restaurants (and a menu book) that you can order from and they will deliver it to you. I had my birthday party here and I was quite pleased. One j. box and a lot of liquor. I have also been on the first date of a blind date here and it made a good scene for the too!
Yes, the parking is a pain, but on the upside you can park one place and go to Ikea, Macy's, Barnes & Noble, Steve &Barry's, CPK, etc. etc. Ikea is Ikea-- are you going to not shop at the Burbank Ikea and drive hours out of your way to go to another one because parking isn't spectacular and the service isn't that of The Beverly Hills Hotel?! I'm not.
I will say though, last time I was there an alarm went off, and continued to go off, and everyone was going about business as usual. That's fine and all but I'm on the basement level-- am I going to die?!?!? It would have been nice it they had made an announcement that they were having tech. diff. in the first 5 min. of the alarm sounding.
I will give them that they were really easy and allowed me to return a boat load of stuff-- no questions asked.
No matter what, I love Ikea and I'm glad that Burbank has one!
Where else does a Greek man greet you with kisses and speaks of you as if you're the hottest woman in the world!?!!? Love it-- Great place for anytime--especially birthdays! The food is really good and the vibe is as if you are hanging out in their very Greek living room while they entertain you as if you're family! Very cool. They love USC (Go Trojans if you are one), and they love all that come to their restaurant.
On Saturday we got a wild hair and decided to give this place a shot for breakfast. Can I just tell you that right when we walk in there is a large, bright, orange sign that says something about breakfast --the exact thing that I crave on Saturday morning-- to only find out that nope, they actually don't serve breakfast on Saturdays (maybe that's what the orange sign said). Okay, taking it in stride I start looking over the "daily specials." I begin telling my friend how I am thinking of the Vegetarian popper things or the grilled cheese and tomato soup when the counter girls says, "oh, we're out of the vegetarian poppers." Not a big deal-- "give me the grilled cheese and soup then", but NO! can't have that because "they are out of tomato soup." Alright, I'm growing weary and I want to leave but I fear that my friend has her heart committed and I look at her and say "what were you going to get?", she decides on the tuna. Guess what?? NO TUNA! At this point I am totally over it and suggest that we go somewhere else. We leave and summarize the place with this, "Urban Eats- Never Open, no tuna, no meat, no soup, no veggies things and no breakfast." Let me ask this, "THEN WHY ARE YOU OPEN and why would you write daily specials on the board of which you are out of?!?" No wonder there were no other customers.
I will say that this has been my only experience of Urban Eats and maybe others have had fantastic meals there-- but not me =(
Hmmm Noah's bagels on a Saturday morning. Yum-O! My roommate and I walk down here most Saturday mornings. Really good, but the early morning rush can really pack the small house. The employees at this Noah's are fantastic! So nice! Their coffee... hmmm yumm! They always have one rotating flavor for the season and it never let's me down! My fave bagel is the everything bagel with the garlic herb shmear
I love Don Cuco's. It so great. Margaritas are good, then servers are sweet, and the food is yummy. The only problem is that it gets PACKED! Not quite sure if they take reservations but it's worth calling and asking. The ambiance is really great (they've got the whole Spanish patio look going on inside), parking can be a pain but it's all worth it!
Now I know why that one guy I dated loved this place!!!
Paty's-- LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! It's on Riverside drive-- old diner with the oldest waitress in the world and mimosas. The neat thing is that all of you L.A. health freaks don't even have to worry because you can totally eat off of Paty's "fit menu" and not mess up your protein, low-carb, muscle building diet. In case your wondering, I had the "build your own scramble" which was yummmmy!
I really like Granville. I live within walking distance so I go often. Breakfast is really good, especially if it's a nice day--ask to sit on the patio! Their cucumber martinis are a day at the spa in your mouth-- very refreshing! My favorite food item is the grilled cheese dippers. Really good!
I do find that sometimes the service can be a little slow and I hate the modern alien picture thing on the back wall-- it doesn't go (but I don't hold it against them!)
Eight-18 is by far my favorite place to be. It's a very sweet, sassy, sexy, intimate wine bar in Toluca Lake. The staff and patrons are very nice and extremely helpful (no snottiness what-so-ever!), and the food and wine are fantastic!! You can do a full dinner or just a cheese tasting with wine or appetizers-- either way you'll be glad that you went.
It's not huge and quite popular on Friday and Saturday nights so I recommend making reservations.
They have a nice website where they say it best, " I am dangerous. I am sexy. I am exciting. I am confident." And they aren't lying.
They also have wine lockers to rent, and some wine on tap!! Music on Friday nights, I think.
