Finally got out to have yogurt at Mochii. I kinda had an idea what to expect thanks to all the reviews I had read.
I have to say Mochii is a nice treat, for those of us who enjoy new and different tastes. Sure I love a good ol Big Spoon, but Mochii is a nice change that after you are done eating you dont feel like you just gained 50lbs. Its light and icey not like you typical frozen yogurt. I was a little disappointed that they only had orange and chocolate mochii left to top off my Zang, but that just means I am going to have to get here earlier next time!
I always manage to forget that we have a decent breakfast spot in the neighborhood.
Its typical breakfast food but they offer something no IHOP or Denny's will...MIMOSAS. They bring out the mimosa and the rest of the champagne in the baby bottle. Best morning "pick me up" ever!
The Golden Bear is a good time.
It pretty much is like a house party on K St. Walking in brought me back to times when I'd walk into houses where all the furniture was put into the garage so there would be enough "dancing" space. Its really small inside, like a living room, and has one long bar to the right. I especially like the patio, but it can be hard to find a table for more than 2 cause it also is pretty small.
The Golden Bear for me, is fun for a nice change of scene. As much as I love the "trendy/upscale" nightlife in Sac, I also enjoy a "laid back/chill" bar like Golden Bear!!!
Things I liked about Hilltop:
-VERY laid back environment, good dive
-VERY cheap drinks
-Jukebox is pretty up to date yet maintains the classics
-Bathroom was clean, but small (one toilet)
-Hooks under the bar to hang your purse if needed
-VERY cheap drinks
-Gets a nice mixed crowd...college students, ultimate pool/darts players....creepy old guys
-Everyone gets VIP parking, there are no other things open around it late at night so the street is dead, I think the bike rack was more full that the street
-oh and cheap drinks!!
I had so much freakin FUN at the Saddle Rack.
Yes its a little out of my element and typically not a place I would chose to go to figuring its mainly a country type bar and I am not a fan of Country music BUT nonetheless...had a blast.
Heard that there typically is a huge line, so we got there early to get our hand stamped then went back to the hotel to preparty. Got back around 10:30 and the place was packed. However the place is HUGE so its not really that bad. On the night we went there was a band playing on stage in front of a real big dance floor. They played their songs and I believe a DJ would play some top 40 in between...trying to remember like what, but my memory is quite hazy. Of course there were a lot of cowboys/cowgirls but also a lot of people there just having fun trying something new like we were. There are like 5 bars, in there, all cash only.
If Country music/style really isn't your scene, I would not suggest coming here sober. haha also Patron shots were only $6.75...amazing
Avalon is real iffy for me. I have had some of the most fun times here and some of the most boring/lame nights. And it all comes down to one thing....having a booth. That way, you can hangout with your friends all night, dance around without having creepsters near you, and not have to wait your turn for a drink.
Although, I like that its really big...and the patio is okay minus the porta pottys out there...yah pretty odd.
This place is so sweet.
I love that you can walk back and forth from here and Chargins and manage to know someone at either place. Had the best time here for St Patrick's day this year, the patio was way fun and a nice relief from the overly packed bar.
A good little dive to either start or end your night.
absolutely LOVED my experience at Lucca this past weekend.
We had reservations so were promptly seated at a nice spot outside. At first it was a little on the chilly side, but they have these huge heaters above the tables which made it a lot better. The atmosphere outside was great, nice candle lit garden-y feeling.
Our server was probably the best server ever. He knew EVERYTHING about the food on the menu. He memorized the specials of the evening so well, describing them to the tee, he made everything sound very appealing and appetizing. It was like he was telling a story, Ch1 appetizers, Ch2 entrees, Ch3 dessert. I was loving it.
The soup special was a mushroom bisque with truffle oil drizzled on top...BEST mushroom soup ever. I'm not joking. I had a taste of it and immediately wished that I had ordered it. I went with fettuccine special with the slowly simmered beef/red wine ragu. Also, amazing, really good. Tasted exactly like what the server described it would be like.
For dessert our table shared the white chocolate raspberry swirl gelato and the creme brulee (hazelnut, caramel & chocolate) sampler type thing. The gelato was thick and creamy and you could taste the freshness of the raspberry puree swirl in it.
Everything about my night at Lucca was great. Super attentive and friendly server, great food and atmosphere.
I really cant believe these are the same people that own Roxy...Roxy could learn a lot from this place.
Minus only one star because their waiting area is extremely small. And they ran out of gnocchi which I originally wanted to order. I suggest you have reservations so you are not stuck being sardined for a while.
I love this place...why? Because when I leave I have a nice, shiny, healthy, color, cut ,straightening job and I didn't have to spend my entire paycheck.
I started coming to this salon after my sister's friend recommended it to us. We all come to see a woman named Hazi, she is the owner.
Hazi is straight up with you and I like that. She lets me know when my hair is F-ed up and that I need to start using better conditioner and lay off the flat iron for a while. I can come here and expect her to have the best recommendations for my hair as far as color and cut go. I have never been unsatisfied with her work. OK maybe once, it wasn't that big of a deal, nothing a little color couldn't fix. So I went back the next day and I walked out another happy customer.
Hazi does a great job and by the looks of the other customers in there, so do the other people working there. Everyone there is super friendly and nice, and the salon is very nice and clean as well. Great place to come get your hair done and catch up on all the typical salon gossip!!
I have been coming to the Crest once a year for the past 4 years to watch/participate in a performance called Derby Sing that a fraternity from Sac State puts on, and this is the best place to have it. There is plenty of seating, it's big enough but not too big that you cant see the stage well enough if you are sitting far back.
Sure the theater smells funny when you walk in, the carpets are ugly, but that's what makes it unique and gives it that old time look and feeling. It's nice to have something like this here in my own backyard I guess.
I was just disappointed though, when Friday night they shut down the bar at 8:30pm! haha
