...that's what it claims at least, I believe it! There is a tiny bar area and they serve a good variety of beer and liquor and even have mini champagne bottles! Also they have a jukebox with some oldies buy goodies on it that you can select. The place feel really cozy and is connected to Salerno Beach next door (and shares a bathroom). Lots of fun, but not with super large groups.
We went here for a happy hour after work one Friday. The best part is that you can play beer pong here! There was a very interesting crowd; mostly older and locals. The person next to me at the bar broke a glass as we were standing there, which was interesting. I'd probably go back but just for a really casual night.
This placed is owned by the same people that own The Room in Santa Monica. It's dark inside just like The Room. We went for a friend's birthday and rented out the front area so we could all sit down if we wanted. They played excellent music and we danced all night. Just make sure you get there before 10 because there is usually a cover (I think 5 or 10 bucks). The bartenders were all really nice and gave my friend a free shot for her birthday!
This place was a lot of fun. It's pretty divey but the best part is that they have games! There's shuffleboard which is always fun and they also have darts. Drinks and everything else is pretty standard for a bar, but the draw is definitely the games. Parking is tough on the street.
800 North is located within Rush Street and are both named for locations in Chicago. I used to work at a restaurant owned by the same people: D'amatos (which is now a lounge: Live at PJ's). At the time I knew a lot of the the servers and bartenders here and they make very good drinks. The atmosphere at 800 North makes you feel like you're actually in Chicago and not Ann Arbor. You can also order food off the menu. We had prawns that were delicious. Great vibe here.
The best part of this place is the view of the Pacific Ocean especially if you sit out on the patio. They have great beer, that is of their own label. I got the burger one time, and I've had the clam chowder and wedge salad another time. The service wasn't so great, a little slow to get served and not that attentive. I haven't been here at night but early dinner is a good time to be here. It's fun to walk around the shops in the area too.
Every time I've been here I've gone with a group of girlfriends and have had the best time. I've had the scallops and the macaroni and cheese (watch out it has bacon on it!). They also have a killer pomegranate martini that I always have to get. There is usually a pretty long wait but waiting in the bar area is not bad. The bar is in the center of the restaurant and is long on both sides. The restaurant is on the water and valet parking is pretty much the only option.
I've been here a few times and it's usually the last stop of the night. It's a cool little place right on the water. You can even dock your boat and come in. There's always a huge line, and one time we were waiting in line a big fight broke out. There is a neat patio in the back to cool off after dancing inside. They play good music and the bartenders are nice. We even stayed after it closed down one night!
Whenever we go out in Newport, we pretty much start at this bar. I always drink the Newport Blonde beer. In the summers it gets really really hot inside and it's hard to get a drink, but there's a nice outdoor area with TV. We even went right when they opened so we could watch a football game that was being played in the Midwest. The food here is also pretty good and there's always a good fun crowd.
Malarky's, located on the Newport peninsula is a funny place. There are a lot of drunk surfer types here. I don't think it was really my scene, but I had fun. It's a typical Newport party bar. They had some interesting beers, not just your typical generic types. There was very good people watching too.
