Small space, but the food comes out fast and is made fresh. I usually get the burrito and the guacamole is delicious. So are the nachos. It does get busy after the bar and during football games, but it is so worth it. There are a couple locations around campus but State street is the most fun. I've gotten the huge burrito once and it is enough for two and very heavy to carry across campus! Cheap prices for good food.
Champion House is kind of overrated. It's definitely not the best food in town, especially for the money. Hibachi is always fun for big groups, but it gets old. The service is weird and so is the decor, it just doesn't make sense. We only went for the Japanese side, but there is a Chinese side too (which was closed for renovations when we went).
This cute cafe is off-campus so a great study spot for students who want to get away from all the coffee shops on campus and who don't study well at the library. They have a really great variety of drinks and it's not very loud like a Starbucks.
I went to UM and I always took my parents here when they were in town. It's laid back and has a great menu and a pretty good beer selection. You can build your own burger and the fries are delicious. The service is hit or miss and there is usually a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. Right on Street, so lots to do in the area.
I really dislike this place. There are many drinks on the menu, none of which are good. The food is bad and so is the service. They are so rude. They also like to make a line outside so it looks like it's fun inside, but once you get in...not fun. Good place for groups to get drunk, but that's about it. Go to Rick's across the street instead, or the Brown Jug.
Dominicks is the best summer spot in Ann Arbor. The sangria is amazing (and potent), the food is great. There's also a great drink called the Constant Buzz, it's frozen and fruity and very potent as well. It's a very popular place for students to go in the summer when they cut class. Everyone waits for the opening of Dominicks every year because they are not open year round. It's a great place to hang outside with a large group.
Ann Arbor has so many great breakfast spots. This one is pretty cheap and classic. The lines on the weekend aren't so fun, but it is worth it. Of course parking around Main Street is always a challenge, but you can walk off your meal afterword! If you live in Ann Arbor, you definitely have to try this place.
The food at ABC is ehhhh...the beer very good. I like that you can sit outside and enjoy a few beers with friends. Once a year they'll have an Oktoberfest celebration which is always a hit with the local college students.
I went to school at UM and we'd always make the drive out to Barry Bagels. The bagels are excellent and you can get breakfast items too. They always have seasonal flavors as well. It's worth the drive!
Gratzi had good food and nice decor, but was slightly overrated and overpriced. There are good desserts from La Dolce Vita next door, but when I went with another couple one of my friend's chicken was very undercooked. The waiter comped the meal, but still unacceptable for a place like Gratzi. There are violinists walking around and outdoor seating when it's nice out.
