Wow, wow, and wow. I always love coming to this restaurant. Located in the heart of Fremont, the ambiance is great, both inside and out. And the food is spectacular. I recommend one of their sampler-type platters.
You won't be disappointed here.
The Blue Heron Gallery is one of may all-time favorite galleries. They display the most beautiful and unique art items. It's a treat just to walk through and lose yourself in the amazing mediums presented.
I bought a ring there 3 years ago, and it's still one of my most treasured pieces of jewelry.
BJ's is one of those places you go to for charm and location just as much as you do for the quality of the items. The ice cream there is amazing. From what I understand, it's all locally made, and there are some pretty yummy, unique creations.
They also have great taffy and an assortment of fudge and other baked items. It really tops off a special day at the coast.
The Fish and Chips here are really good. I recommend going with a friend and splitting a larger fish meal to make for a good price.
The restaurant itself isn't too much to speak of. Several of the tables have been completely taken over by the staff's personal projects, which was a little weird.
We were the only people there when we went, which I didn't know what to make of it. So I can't complain about the service.
The whole family gets their hair cut here, and that's a first for us! I've also come across folks who come from Eugene to Veneta to get their hair cut here. The cuts and styles here are of high-end quality, so I'm not surprised.
I highly recommend this place to anyone. They've also been known to accommodate me at odd times (like 7am), which has been fantastic since I work and have small children.
This business is actually on Territorial in Veneta (not Sheffler in Elmira).
So I tried and I tried to make this place work for me, but it's been a no go. The two gals that work there are SUPER sweet. But I think the owner is stretched in too many directions and she overbooks herself. My appointment with her never started on time (or even within 15 minutes of scheduled time), and I couldn't keep her attention on my hair for more than 5 minutes. It's either the phone, her other stylist, her kids, her husband, or another customer that will draw her attention away again and again. And it's unfortunate b/c she really is talented.
The other stylist is more timely, but not as experienced. The other stylist is really great at waxings, though.
I also think they're a tad more pricey than they need to be. Ironically, the owner will give you a better deal on hair than the second stylist.
If timeliness (starting on time and getting done in a timely fashion) doesn't matter to you, then you may be satisfied with this business.
I get my mystic tans at Mujeres, and they always do a professional job. It's as clean as one can expect from a mystic tan booth (although I do think it would be good for them to replace the foot mat in there-- it's definitely seen one too many mystic tans).
I've done mystic tans in other cities, and they can be cheaper. But, with limited supply in Eugene, you don't have a lot of choice in what you pay here.
So I've been to a handful of Izzy's, and there's truly something about the Izzy's on Seneca that stands out to me. The servers are fantastic. And the food honestly tastes better than food at other Izzy's. I love their BBQ Chicken pizza.
It's also a great place to bring kids because you can get their food right away and there's a great selection.
Our Daily Bread is a really adorable restaurant on Veneta's main drag. Generally I've been very happy with the food. The one complaint I have about food is the $1 increase from lunch to dinner on items that don't appear to increase in portions (e.g., The Tofu Patty Sans). Keeping the prices the same would be a good gesture. And overall I think their prices are a tad high.
The ambiance is generally nice. There are pockets that are a little dark, and there are spots where you'll get a lot of foot traffic from servers going to and from tables.
It's not usually the first place I think of going when in Veneta, but it's nice to know it's there.
Both times I went in to Chicago Joe's to eat I waited, and waited and waited for someone to greet me and take my order (you seat yourself). I waited in excess of 10 minutes. The place is just one big room, and I could see the owner and several staff just hanging by the front counter, so I couldn't figure out why I was waiting.
Another time I came for lunch 30 minutes after posted opening time, and the place was locked up with no signs of life.
So... I've had their food a few times for take-out, and I thought it was so-so. The toppings are underneath the cheese. I generally like the crispiness of toppings on top, so this way of cooking isn't my bag.
