Baitong Thai Restaurant
Baitong has wonderful Thai food. It's new location down in Southcenter is nicer feeling but a little smaller. The food is so flavorful, but I can't take more than one star for spiciness. Lots of Thai eat here--always a good sign!
Deanie's Seafood
Great food in a good atmosphere at Deanie's. One of the few places in the French Quarter where there was room and we could hear each other. My only complaint was the really long wait, both at the door and at the table for the order to be taken.
Historic New Orleans Walking Tours
I'm so glad I took this walking tour in the Garden District. Some of our group took a self-guided tour and I came away with a much better knowledge of the history, architecture and local customs than those folks. The tour guide was knowledgable and humorous. We weren't rushed and got to see a ton. Loved it!
Spiro's Pizza & Pasta
This was a great place to go for a group. Family owned. Good pizza (not just run of the mill) and pasta and not overpriced. I've also had their pasta catered as a buffet. Yummy!
Kidd Valley
All the locals know about Kidd Valley--best burgers in town. Big, juicy and not complete without the homemade potato fries and homemade, real fruit shakes! I always get mine to go and either eat at home or in the park nearby, since there isn't much for seating. What a treat!
Daiso
The Japanese "dollar store", Daiso, is an amazing collection of stuff for about a buck (maybe a little more with the current exchange). Household items, decorative things, pencil boxes, utensils, ceramics, knick knacks, school supplies, etc. A fun place to explore.
H Mart
Great prices and selection in this large Asian grocery store. Lots of fresh produce of all sorts. But the very best is the seafood. Fresh, frozen, dried and live! Over 30 kinds of fresh fish and other seafood like shrimp, mussels, scallops, abalone, crab, squid, octopus, etc. A diverse clientele loves this store!
Vickie Bergquist - State Farm Insurance Agent
Vickie is a great resource for our business--she knows so many people in the community. She doesn't pester us with offers but, at the same time, she does let us know immediately when some product comes up that is a fit for our needs. She knows our business and is proactive to help. The whole office staff jumps in to assist with any issue when we call. Very nice and "can do."
Winston's Auto Repair
Winston's is a bunch of great guys who want to fix your car, not fleece you! They are honest in their quotes, let you know all the options so you can make an informed decision, and keep in good communication throughout the whole process. I'll go to these guys every time!
Quality Sewing & Vacuum
AAA Sewing & Vacuum in the north end of Burien (almost White Center) is a father-son business that's been around for years. They have been great at finding our church the right vacuum for our needs and negotiated a great price. After several years and a few different kinds of vacuums, we've only had two repairs which they took care of right away. Too bad I don't know how to sew or quilt, because they have tons of sewing machines, too. Maybe I should take one of their many sewing classes. These are nice people and a nice place to do business.
