We had Hyegraph Invitations & Calligraphy do the gift boxes for our black tie charity fundraiser. They did a beautiful job on the lettering and the ribbons but ran right into our deadline. We were holding our collective breath not knowing if they would be done in time, but they pulled it off.
Juicy News is where I go when I need a break during the day. They carry a wide assortment of international magazines, books and cards. I can browse to my heart's content and mindlessly wander there if I want. It's nice to have a place that doesn't require a lot of thought where I can just veg for a few minutes and turn my brain off.
Martin-Richards redesigned our main conference room. The glass conference table and white leather chairs is so chic and stylish, we've used it in one of our layouts. The furniture setting has a clean, classic look and is the jewel of our company, especially when we have clients in for a meeting.
I had agreed to meet some friends at the Sunshine Coast because I had no idea what it was. I thought I was going to a bar for some drinks. Oh no! This place is a Hookah bar! I don't smoke; I actually get sick at the smell and as soon as I got to the front door, I was in shock and dismay. I refused to go in until I was practically dragged in by my friends. I couldn't take the smell so I had to leave.
When we were getting ready for a green event for Earth Day, we needed to get shopping bags made out of recycled materials to keep with the theme. You wouldn't think it would be that difficult nowadays to find such a thing, but it was. After spending a lot of time online searching and on the phone with vendors, I finally found the Arrow Paper Company. They carry a line recycled brown paper shopping bags that was perfect for our needs. They were also able to provide us with the bulk quantity that we needed.
After managing to find some of the seediest stamp shops in San Francisco with my nephew - ugh! - we finally found a reputable company, the United States Stamp Company. Thank heavens! I was starting to think all of the stamp collectible places were shady until we went here. This was a night and day experience. The shop was well lit, the shopkeeper was friendly and he guided us on what we should be looking for. We brought in a couple of stamps my nephew had to get appraised and they treated him with dignity and respect. It was a great experience for my nephew and myself.
The Golden Plaza is a tourist trap of a souvenir shop. They've got all the usual tourist trappings at inflated prices and questionable quality. I've been to a lot of the tourist places and souvenirs shops and this one isn't one of the ones I liked. I felt like I was being followed and watched the whole time as I was browsing around.
My mom's antique clock hadn't worked for years so one time when I was home for the weekend I got it from her and took it back to San Fran with me. I brought it to Smith Clock to see if they could figure out what was wrong with it and maybe fix it. I had to leave it with them for a week, but they were able to get it to work again! My mom was thrilled because it hadn't worked in ages.
I'll stop into the San Francisco Expressions Gift when I'm having a sugar fit and need a quick fix. They carry a bunch of sundries, gifts, souvenirs - but I go for the candy and a cold soda to quench my thirst. I've also picked up a card or two here, although their selection is on the small side.
I went into the Russian Ark with a purpose and a mission - to find a faberge egg for my godmother. She specifically asked for a faberge egg and everyone in the family left it up to me to get it. I was disappointed that the Russian Ark only had faberge egg pendants - they were beautiful to be sure, but not what I needed. I asked them if they could give me any idea where else I could go and they thankfully gave me a few other places.
