Tong's Asian Antiques has a lot of selections of antiques you will never find anywhere else. The prices here are a bargain! The jewelry is unique and eccentric and the owners are always willing to bargain a little. There is ivory statues and large Chinese porcelain vases all for prices that cannot be beat. I recommend getting multiple things, so that you can wager a better bargain. There is also a selection of unique San Francisco souvenirs that were sold back in the day.
This place has really good pork "seiw lung bao." They specialize in dumplings. They also have really good stir fried rice noodle cakes called "chow neen go". Get it with pork and Chinese mustard greens. The Chinese pancakes are pretty good too. This place makes good Shanghai based food, but the restaurant itself is very small and can be a little unappealing to eat at. The regular dumplings are not quite as good.
This place has the best coffee ice cream ever! I always come here for ice cream when I am in the neighborhood. The place itself is very quaint and looks like an old school ice cream parlor. Turkish coffee in a waffle cone is the way to go! The prices are not that bad either. Definitely recommended for a quick dessert!
They also have other flavors of ice cream, but not as wide of a selection as other places. They are famous for their coffee flavors.
This place has a friendly Mexican staff who make delicious burritos. It is opened late at night as well. Their super burritos are huge and filling and well worth the price. It is crowded at lunch time so try and come early or a little later and the parking is pretty hard to find. I would recommend this place over many others in the sunset area. Get the pollo asado burrito and carnitas burrito!
This place has fresh homemade noodles. The udon and ramen are highly recommended. The lunch specials are a little pricey but they come with gyoza that are very good. I also really like the pickled cucumbers that come with the udon. I recommend wakame udon or the shoyu ramen. It is hard to find parking in Japantown, but it is definitely a good option when you are cold and want some soup.
Mel's Drive-In is the place to go for decent American food. Their chicken noodle soup is so fresh and homemade! The food is around $10 and they have a variety of selection. They also have very good milkshakes. They keep it very 50s style with the jukeboxes on the table, but be careful feeding money into these because you will have to wait until all songs requested are played before yours comes on. It can get crowded here so try to avoid the weekend rushes. Overall, Mel's is always good wholesome American food that you can count on!
Fuzio's brings a new take on pasta. If you like pasta, there is all kinds offered here. The prices are not too bad either. I personally like the pad thai like one because I do not like the creamier pastas. There is a lot of selection and it will satisfy a lot of people's pickiness. They also have these hard candies that you can take after eating that are really good as well. I would recommend coming early though because parking in embarcadero is always hard to find unless you want to park in a lot.
This place is open really late, so it is really good when you are up late at night. They are relatively fast but parking can be sometimes hard to find. The garlic chicken pizza is excellent as well as the pesto pizza. The garlic bread is reallly good if you are looking for a cheap late night snack.
Dr. Azama is one of the friendliest dentist you will ever meet. She remembers who you are and is genuinely interested in what you are doing. The assistants are sometimes not as gentle with your teeth as they should be, but they have changed their system a lot over the years. The environment is very kid friendly and they often ask you what movie you would like to watch. Each kid gets to take home a small toy prize at the end of their visit as well. They also take a picture of your first visit for memories.
Lam Hoa Thuan has great Chinese food for reasonable prices. You can also order Vietnamese dishes here as well. I really like the BBQ items liek the roast duck or the soy sauce chicken. I also recommend the rice noodle soups. Their vegetable dishes are also very good because they saute it well with garlic and salt. For the price, you cannot argue with the food here. It will fill you up on authentic Chinese cuisine.
