Stacks restaurant is one the the more popular restaurants in Burlingame. If you are planning to come here, make sure to come early! It is usually always packed on weekends. With that said, Stacks serves some of the best breakfast around. My family and I always come here for a good hearty breakfast for lunch meal. The service is great and the restaurant is nice. I would recommend the potatoes and the frittatas as well as the pancakes. All of the food here is very fresh tasting and they give breakfast a unique modern twist. Try this place out, but don't be discouraged with the long wait!
If you have never been to one of these restaurants before, then the food may surprise. In SF, there are restaurants that happen to specialize in American food with a Chinese twist. Cafe definitely is one of those places. It is one of the cleaner places too. The service is okay, but the parking is sometimes horrible. They have really good deals, so you get a full meal with bread and tea and dessert for under $10. I recommend the black peppered porkchop or the portuguese chicken.
King Of Thai never disappoints me. It is cheap and good. The restaurant is covered in purple paint. The service is not all that great and the restaurant can get pretty crowded. Do not come in here looking for a "nice and clean" restaurant. This place serves good Thai food period. They only accept CASH so make sure you bring cash. With all other King of Thais, I really really like the pad-see-ew and the fried chicken over fried rice. The tom yum soup is also good, but sometimes it can be made a little too sour. Come here if you happen to be in downtown and want some cheap eats. The parking is not worth it otherwise.
King of Thai is one of my most favorite Thai places in SF. It is delicious and cheap! The prices are all under $10 a dish. The food is amazing here. The restaurant is not the cleanest or highest of classes, so don't come here dressed up. It is good for casual dining or late night food. It is open til 2 am i believe. I suggest the pad see ew or the fried rice with fried chicken!
Mescolanza is small so if you are coming here with a big group make sure to make reservations. The service was really good. Our waiter was extremely helpful despite the large and rowdy group we were. The food was decent, but nothing mind blowing. The prices are around ~$15+ per dish depending on what you order. It is a good place to get Italian food in Richmond district.
Like the previous review, I highly suggest going on Taco Tuesdays. The food is very worth it on Tuesdays and margaritas are really cheap as well. The tacos are pretty good. I would suggest getting the calamari one. I had the mahi mahi but it was too fishy for my liking. Go early on Tuesday because the place gets crowded quick, but the service is good. The chips and salsa are free and the salsa is amazing, so feel free to eat as much as you want!
Koret Center is one of the nicest basketball gyms and swimming pool in the area. If you can get into the center at the USF campus, then consider yourself lucky. The basketball gym has many courts and are very nicely updated and maintained. The gym itself is also very nice with not that many people at it. The swimming pool is huge! It is nice to swim in if you want to spread your legs and arms out.
Come On In! Cafe Express is located inside the Moores Cancer Center at UCSD. It is a relatively new place and is nice to eat at on a warm and breezy day. There is not much indoor seating but plenty of seating under outdoor umbrellas. Some of the food is a bit overpriced, but there are a few things that are extremely delicious. If you like artichoke hearts, I highly suggest the Come On In! pizza! If you like salads, try the Palmito Salad! The palmitos are extremely good and the dressing is light and refreshing. (dip it with the bread it comes with.) The bread roll that the salad comes with is really good as well. For the best deal, get the BLT. It is $5 for a BLT sandwich and a pasta side. Overall, I say this place is worth eating at if you are in the neighborhood and can spare the cash.
UCSD Thornton Hospital is one of the nicest hospitals around!! The rooms are spacious and are decorated like hotel rooms. The staff is friendly and caring and usually you can get into the ER to see a doctor pretty quickly. There is a cafeteria that serves okay food. I would recommend getting the deal which is a sandwich and a side and a drink for $5.81. The grill is the safest bet. Overall, this place is nice and the staff is very helpful
California Crisp in Horton Plaza is not good! I love the California Crisp in SF, so I was dying to try the tostada salad down here. It was disappointing! The salad was warm and not refreshing. It tasted nothing like what I was used to. The place itself is not very clean either. I would not recommend eating here. Try one of the other food court places.
