The Silverado Brewing Co is a great place to go and relax and have a beer. Their selection is great. Ask for a sampler so you can be sure to try all the different kinds they brew! And be sure to try their home-made rootbeer! The atmosphere is fun. It looks almost like an old European castle, but the inside has a very homey, familiar feel.
The Westin is a great hotel to stay in if you're in the city. Right in the middle of everything, you can easily get to Union square, the San Francisco shopping center, and great restaurants. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the concierge was helpful at recommending things to do in the city.
We were on a skiing vacation in Denver and decided to eat at Sullivans after hearing that it was a great steakhouse, however, we were really disappointed with our experience. We had a reservation for 7:30 but were not seated until closer to 8:30. Management apologized profusely, but an hour wait after having a reservation is not acceptable. The food was very good, but it wasn't anything amazing. In fact, the seafood appetizer plate was better than the actual steak. Overpriced and crowded, I would not eat here again if I were back in Denver.
Chimney Rock Winery was one of our first stops on our self-created Napa Valley Wine tour. It was a great place to stop. Beautifully maintained. They offered a great tasting selection and the staff answered all of our "dumb" wine questions. Decently priced, we were very happy with the bottles we bought.
Calistoga Ranch is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. My cousin's wedding was held here and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. Our room had a large bedroom and bathroom suite with an outdoor shower, and a separate living area connected by a gorgeous wood patio and outdoor fireplace. Set within the woods, you feel very secluded and forget that there are other guests. You're driven to your room in a golfcart by an extremely personable staff who cater to your every need. The pool and restaurant are gorgeous as well. Trust me, you will never want to leave! Worth every penny!
Los Primos makes a great meal and an even better midnight snack after a night out! They make a mean California burrito. That's always my favorite. The place is small but clean, and the cooks are always quite talkative. Fast service for a quick bite!
Cute restaurant decorated in traditional Mexican style. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The service is friendly and fast. Delicious chips and salsa while you wait, and the margaritas are a must have!
I took my first trip to Julian a couple months ago after hearing rave reviews about the pies made up there. Mom's Pie House does not disappoint! The apple pie was out of this world, and the berry pie was just as phenomenal. I wish it wasn't so far away because I would be eating their pies all the time!
My family and I decided to try whitewater rafting when we went to Wyoming. It was one of the best experiences of my life! The staff at Snake River was very helpful in calming or first time fears and very thorough in explaining all the safety precautions and what rafting would be like. They provide all the equipment (wetsuits, lifejackets); you just need a swimsuit! A bus transports you to the start site and drives you back when you reach the end. Our guide was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable of the area and explained things to us as we rafted down the river. Great experience! I would love to do it again!
Edo has the best sushi in central La Jolla. It's the best I've found around here without having to drive to downtown La Jolla or downtown San Diego. The staff and sushi chefs are all very friendly and they always have specials posted on a board. The price is reasonable and the wait is never very long.
