Tanglewood is a beautifully decorated restaurant at the end of Santana Row. It has huge patio doors that open up to the sidewalk giving it an open air feel. The food was beautifully prepared and very tasteful. The waiters were very professional and provided a relaxed, intimate dining experience. Overall it was a great dining experience. The only problem is it's a bit pricey and the bill adds up quickly.
I was really excited that Sonoma Chicken Coop opened up in Almaden because I've been to the one in downtown San Jose a couple of times. You can get entire meals for a very decent price. The menu is extremely large but they have a little bit of everything. The appetizers are great, but my favorite is the chocolate fondue dessert! You order at the counter and they buzz you when your order is ready. It's self seating and the atmosphere is your standard chain setup. Clean and comfortable.
Ignore the name. Just eat the food! Squat and Gobble makes some of the best crepes I've ever had! They also serve a mean breakfast and the rest of their food is equally good. You order and the front and then sit down where they bring the food out to you. Pretty good service. I love eating here when I am in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood.
Used to work at UCSF and would walk over to Tikka Masala many times a week to eat lunch. It's a really small place but the food is good and authentic. My favorite is the chicken tikka masala. Their naan is also really good. The service was fast and the food is cheap.
I really enjoy Hawaiian food and Hukilau does a fairly good job. The ahi poke and the chicken katsu are the best things to order, and the side of macaroni is always good. Their bar also makes some pretty good drinks. Relatively inexpensive and satisfying.
The location is convenient but parking in the area can be difficult.
Rigolo is one of my favorite places to eat! Everything is fresh and delicious. I love popping in on a cold SF day and getting a bowl of french onion soup. Or a great burger to fill me up! The menu is simple but it definitely doesn't detract from the quality of the food. The staff is super friendly and the inside is clean and modestly decorated. You order and the food is brought to your table.
Spruce did not disappoint. I had a fabulous dining experience there. It was nearly perfect! The food was original and delicious and the service was phenomenal. While a little pricey, the overall dining experience was worth it. I would highly recommend Spruce and will definitely be back there to eat again!
Trattoria Contadina has the best Italian food in the city! Located on a small corner in the North Beach district makes parking really hard to find but it is so worth it. Everything from the appetizers, to the salads, to the entrees, to the desserts are amazing. I can't pick just one to recommend. The inside has a very homely feeling and you can tell that everyone always comes back to eat here. Great food!
Stumbled across this restaurant when we were walking down Clement St. So glad we did! The French food is amazing here. I recommend the escargo and with plenty of their fresh made bread, and their steak with pomme frites is to die for. The inside of the restaurant is very nice and the price isn't too bad. A great eat in the city!
Located in Laurel Heights on Sacramento St. Magic Flute has great brunch and other good food. The wait staff is friendly but service is a little slow. The inside of the restaurant is fairly small, but there is a nice outside seating area in the back. Very nice on a warm San Francisco day.
