I found this hotel in the small town of San Simeon. It is newly renovated and the inside is beautiful. It has a very nice charm to it and the staff was very friendly. The hotel is fairly small, but the rooms are large. Our room had a fireplace and an ocean view, and our stay came with a continental breakfast delivered to our door in the morning. There is a small pool but unfortunately no hot tub.
Located by the beach and only a very short drive away from Hearst Castle.
I booked this hotel one week before spring break, which is considered a very busy time at the Grand Canyon. I was afraid that because I had booked it so late that it wouldn't be a very good place to stay, but I was desperate. Turns out that Red Feather Lodge was a good deal for the price I had to pay. The rooms aren't very big, but they are clean and the hotel is located only a mile away from the park entrance. Very convenient! My stay also came with free continental breakfast in the morning, which was a nice perk.
Hobees offers some of the best breakfast in the Saratoga area. They make wonderful omelets and amazing french toast. There is always a breakfast special as well that never seems to let me down. If you've never been before, you have to try their claim-to-fame: blueberry coffee cake. A huge slice of it and you'll think you're in heaven. It really is that good!
Service is friendly and fast, but there's always a little bit of a wait.
Located right across the street from De Anza College, Coffee Society offers great coffee and pretty good pastries. I like to go here to grab a cup of coffee and sit inside and study. There are comfy couches in the back and tables in the front. It's a very relaxed/casual atmosphere perfect for hanging out, studying, reading a book etc.
Elements is one of a few restaurants in the Almaden area that offers great food at a very reasonable price. The French/Vietnamese fusion cooking works wonderfully and we always leave very satisfied. A family favorite is the beef tenderloin-wrapped asparagus and the shrimp and papaya salad. The wine selection isn't bad either. The decor is tastefully done and the staff is friendly and attentive.
I would highly recommend eating here. We always come back for more.
Dr. Steinhoff is a grumpy old man who has more patients than he can handle. It takes forever to be seen, and when he finally rotates over to your chair, he spends very few minutes with you. He doesn't care how you are doing, and talks in an almost condescending manner. He is also not gentle when working on your mouth, and I've left many appointments with cuts, sores, and blood in my mouth. The only thing that was remotely pleasant was his exceptional staff. They are a million times more friendly than he is.
I suggest finding a different orthodontist. My teeth didn't even come out perfectly straight after all that anyway.
The Spa at Torrey Pines was amazing in every way! The facilities and grounds were gorgeous with a view that is unparalleled. The service and environment were impeccable and extremely comfortable. I never wanted to leave! I had a one hour massage and my masseuse was great and attentive to my requests. The staff is helpful and very friendly. A little bit pricier than other places I've been to, but worth every penny. I would go back in a heartbeat!
I'd heard a lot of great things about Blowfish Sushi, but was more than disappointed when I finally got around to going. The drinks are good but slightly overpriced, and the sushi is nothing to write home about. The decor is pretty, but the inside is small and gets crowded pretty quickly. They should also have more waiters because the service was a little slow. And don't go here if you're expecting to make conversation. The music is always really loud. Maybe entertaining for the younger crowd, but don't go here if you're expecting great sushi or a comfortable atmosphere.
The Counter is a great place to go for the true burger lover. There are endless options for bread, spread, and toppings. It is a great way to experiment away from the everyday cheeseburger and try out something a little more gourmet. Personally I love the chipotle mayo with pepperjack cheese and bacon. Delicious! The cheese fries or sweet potato fries are also an excellent choice.
Located in Santana Row makes the Counter perpetually busy. Service is fast though so it's usually worth the wait. The menu options are long, so not for the extremely indecisive :)
My family and I had an early dinner at Alexanders over the weekend and it was an amazing dining experience. The inside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated and the service is impeccable. Knowledgeable wait staff explain menu items, the wine list, and any other questions you might have.
The food was ridiculously good. Steak house style with an asian twist worked wonderfully. Ever dish was brought out and explained to us: how it was made, what was used, and how best to eat it! I recommend the prime rib and any dessert item on the menu! Best of all, at the end they present the table with a cotton candy! I thought it was very charming.
I've been to many steakhouses before, and for the service, food, and dining experience I received at Alexander's, it was well worth the price!
