For generations Jesse Halpern Skate and Tennis has been well serving the Great Neck community. From a first pair of skates for a little tot all the way through the life cycle, one can count of Jesse Halpern to provide a skate that is the right one for your foot, not just one that is "pretty". Because of this parents are always willing to shop here.
If you want any sports clothing, footwear, etc. and you want it to be stylish, Sport Sets is a destination of choice. For years they have been providing Great Neck residents a huge selection of all apparel sports as well as some sporting equipment.
I just had my large master bedroom closet refitted by Alternative Closets. It is just beautiful. The workmanship is top notch and the finishes are stunning.
I will absolutely use them again when I do another closet as not only am I delighted with the finished product, the cost was much less than other companies who do not produce such quality in materials and workmanship
When I was growing up in New Rochelle (in the 50s!), Blue Bird was always the taxi to call. Just recently I was in a position where I needed a taxi in New Rochelle. The phone number is even the same! How I remembered it I will never know but I tried it and it worked. (Well, if you look the number up it is no longer NE 2 for NEw Rochelle 2 but instead is really 632 - but that still translates to NE2. What a hoot!)
The driver was there quickly and was pleasant. The cab was very clean. Since I have just used it once since my childhood I do not know if this is the way it always is or if I was just lucky, but I will assume it is the way it always is now because that is the way it always was.
We were referred to Dr. Tabbal by our internist. We were told that he has not only the best reputation but his work reflects such. (After all a reputation can be bought).
We saw him in his swanky Park Ave. office and met a lovely down-to-earth man who was not anxious to cut. He made sure that both physical and mental problems were OK before he did the best job ever.
And he does his surgery in a hospital. That is great.
Lonny's has grown from a tiny little boutique to the large, bright open store it is today because they always carry just want their customers seem to want and they have it in the sizes that are needed. Lonny's is almost always a first stop when looking for some boutique kind of clothing.
I had an ophthalmic emergency and Dr. Ricci was covering for my regular ophthalmologist. I found him and the woman covering the office to be very helpful and nice. Dr. Ricci helped me with my problem and I left feeling not nearly as scared as when I went in.
The office is old and could use some refurbishment, but that really is unimportant when the physician is as nice and as competent as Dr. Ricci.
Posture-Line Children's shoes has been serving Great Neck for generations. They are patient with the children and parent's as well. If they do not have what you want in the size you need they can and will get it for you. They truly care about the fit and will guide someone away from a style that is not right for the child's foot - something that is hard to do in a community like Great Neck.
Amigo's has been Port Washington's Mexican restaurant of choice for decades. And for good reason. The food is consistently good with service to match. Their salsa is some of the best we have ever had.
I was a guest at a wedding here last summer. It was wonderful in almost every way. (OK - the mayor of NR forgot to show up to marry them so a judge who was a guest had to do it). But other than that major snafu, it was the perfect wedding. And that snafu had nothing to do with the place but with the mayor.
