This is a formal restaurant with magnificent food. I had never heard of it but while staying at the Rancho Bernardo Inn I figured it would be a good place for dinner.
The dinner was spectacular. We all had the tastings menu and that was quite a treat. The wine list is huge and the wine drinkers in our party were quite impressed. I do not drink wine so I am clueless.
Only after we got home did I look this place up to find out that it is considered one of the best restaurants in San Diego. I would have made it a must to go had I known that but I ended up there anyway. You should end up there because now you know.
This place is tops and should not be missed. It is quite pricey and they prefer a tie and jacket for the men but do not require it. If I remember sneakers and jeans are not permitted.
While I was staying at the Inn I scheduled a single massage. That was a HUGE mistake. I should have scheduled one for every day I was there. Unfortunately I could only get a second massage and the other days were ahhhh free <sigh>
The 2 massages I had were wonderful and relaxing. I realized a few hours after the second one that she had released some built up fluid in my left leg that was causing me some difficulty. I am so grateful!
The spa itself was quite zen-like aiding the relaxation experience. I was quite pleased with the whole expereince and when I am in the area again, will return.
This is a lovely resort just outside of San Diego. It is quite spread out so anyone with difficulty walking might either consider another place or call the bell desk when you are going somewhere as they will send a golf cart to zip you to your destination.
The accommodations are large and luxurious with wireless internet and 42" flat screen TVs. If there is anything you need, the staff will happily accommodate you. This place is wonderful.
I had 2 massages and a pedicure here. All of the services were really good. I had 2 different massage therapists and although they both had very different styles, the results for me were the same - total relaxation and stress relief. The pedicure was also very nice. I have spa pedicures regularly so although this was nothing special to me, for most it would be luxurious.
If you can afford the prices, this certainly is a good place to go.
This restaurant and raw bar is a casual dining experience. There are spectacular ocean views and a menu filled with seafood, of course.
For lunch one day I had the crab nachos and really had fun with them. The crab meat was colossal and it was fun having crab on nachos. For dinner another night I had a nut crusted grouper that was very good.
The Ocean Grill serves the beach and pool area of The Breakers. The food is quite good. The hamburgers are wonderful but instead try the crab meat burger served on a brioche. It is just great. The quesadilla was also a family favorite. There is a full bar with "beach" drinks including virgin beach drinks for the kids.
All in all we really enjoyed this place as not only was it super convenient, but the food really rocked.
We had a family group at a large table at Flagler. Even though it was cumbersome for the wait staff, they handled it with aplomb. They were courteous (after all this is The Breakers) and attentive.
The steaks and other fare were world class. I had what I thought would be a plain salad as an appetizer. It was a "plain" salad but there was nothing plain about the taste. I could taste the freshness. As good as my steak was, the salad was the standout. It might have just been a fluke that night, but the greens were crisp, sweet and moist, the dressing was perfect, the whole experience was just great.
Next time I am on Palm Beach I will return to Flagler. I love steak and this was as good as it gets.
I have been here a few times and each time I have loved it. They make a bloody mary seafood cocktail as a first course that is wonderful. I had glazed pork chops one night and they were superb. I have never ordered pork chops before in a restaurant but the people at the next table had them and were raving so I took a chance. And I am so glad I did.
And of course the views are spectacular as this is right on the water. Sunset is a great time to go.
I love Indian food and will go for it whenever I am with someone who will go with me. So when in Mill Valley last year I got my daughter to go with me.
It was OK. Certainly not the best, but still passable enough for me to return when I am in the area and do not have enough time to go to Santa Rosa or into the city.
I would suggest certain dishes but Indian food is such that everyone has different likes and dislike. Of course the nan is wonderful. But is usually is. The people at the next table had tandoori chicken and were telling each other how good it was, but I have no idea if they were new to Indian food of if it was that good. My tika masala was average.
When you walk into this little place, tucked away on a corner not really next to anyplace else, you immediately smell the herb roasted chicken that is turning on spits at the back of the place.
My family always has the sweet, moist chicken with the super crispy skin that you see on the spits as you walk in. I, instead, always go for the leg of lamb. It is just wonderful and I think I have converted my 7 year old grandson into eating lamb instead of chicken when we go here.
Parking is adequate and you can eat outside although there are very few tables outside.
