I had heard not to go here as it was not good. Well, one day, when I was late, I figured that things from here would be better than nothing at all so I went in and got stuff.
To my surprise it was wonderful. I do not know if this was bought out by someone and is now good or if they changed pastry chefs or whatever. But whatever it is, Butter Cooky is now definitely a place to go for baked goods.
Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network consists of the most amazing group of volunteers who rescue, rehabilitate and rehome Cairn Terriers and high Cairn mixes.
Unlike most other rescues, Col. Potter will turn down no Cairn who is capable of being rehabilitated. Age - no problem. If the dog is 16 so be it. S/he deserves to be rescued. Illness - no problem. Injuries, pneumonia, birth defects, etc. Col. Potter cares not. The dog is rescued.
This is truly an amazing organization. If the world respected other people like Col. Potter respects Cairns (and its volunteers) we would be living in a Utopia.
I happened into Hinck's purely by accident. I was driving through Port Washington, realized I was really hungry, and by the next red light was a deli with a parking spot right in front.
I was quite surprised by the quality of the salads. I knew the meats would be good (Boar's Head if I remember but could be another - this was a year ago), but the salads - potato salad, cole slaw, etc. - well they were a long shot.
I took a chance with a quarter pound of each and was quite surprised at just how good they were. When I am in Port again, and need deli, I will be sure to go here.
Ben's serves some of the best kosher sandwiches anywhere. Actually even if you are not kosher, the sandwiches are as good as they get. Their smoked fish is also great as is just about everything else here.
If you are in Bayside and want a great sandwich, Ben's is a great choice.
Ben's is a Long Island tradition serving some of the best sandwiches around. If you just want luncheon meat, feel free to take it home. Or get a platter of chopped liver or fish on a bagel... No matter what you get it is top of the line.
A friend turned me onto Dale and Thomas Popcorn and I will be forever grateful. (Well maybe not my waistline - hehehehe).
This place has the most amazing popcorn I have ever eaten. My favorite is the peanut butter and white chocolate although the cinnamon creme certainly gives it a run for its money.
Their selection varies daily so if you have a particular one you want, call before going over so you won't go for nothing. Although once I didn't call, they didn't have what I wanted and I tried a different one and - well - I need to get larger clothes.
This is really the best popcorn anywhere and is well worth the gas to get here.
I have know Dr. Shore professionally for decades. At one point we trained together. I have the utmost respect for the work she does. In this field aside from education (of which she has more than just about anyone I have ever met) you also need art.
Dr. Shore put her extensive education together with her art and has become one of the best psychologist/psychoanalysts I have ever encountered. She works with adults, adolescents, families and couples.
You could not get better anywhere.
Ronald Kochman has been our family attorney for many years now. He is currently expertly handling my father's very complex estate. His expertise has helped all of us over the years and I trust him implicitly. He also helped me with my complex will and I am quite pleased.
I am not one to go to liquor stores but when I need something I tend to go here. It is very convenient for me and they always have what I need. The help is also quite helpful as I often don't really know what I need. So with the convenience, the help and the selection I like this establishment.
This looks like your typical greasy spoon from the outside. But if you look inside lunchtime it is always packed with locals. (It is not open for dinner).
They make great eggs (not just good eggs but great eggs), have wonderful burgers, sandwiches (try the warm just out of the oven turkey - YUM!), and nice chopped salads as well.
It was recently redone but still maintains the aura of a 50s coffee shop.
