This is the closest hardware place for those of us on the East Side and I've yet to be disappointed when I've gone there. The workers are knowledgeable and very helpful. From home improvement to making keys, they've always made sure I walk out a happy camper.
I can always find coupons/certificates for this place online and therefore it's a great deal. They had some unusual and tasty choices for pizza and a decent wine list.
A wonderful takeout place on the East Side, Chubby's allows you to customize your cheesesteak with multiple types of cheese (including whiz) as well as breads and additional toppings. Prices are reasonable and the food was very good.
If you live nearby, stop in and learn the specials. One night has large sizes discounted, another has gallons for less than $20. Tons of flavor selections and they'll let you try them to make sure you'll be happy. You can't go wrong with daiquiris on a warm New Orleans day. Get a big one and head out to the Fly behind the zoo and sunbathe and watch the world go by. A perfect New Orleans day.
If you're not a college kid, stay away on Wednesday nights - Ladies night brings the kids from Tulane and Loyola in force.
Other nights, however, there's less college kids and it's a good corner bar. The front opens and there's a back patio, so there's plenty of air moving through.
One of the largest beer selections I've ever seen. Oysters on the half shell. Multiple TV screens. This is where we go to watch out of town football games.
The cheese fries are to die for. Crinkle cut flats covered in cheese and melted in a toaster oven. My mouth waters thinking about them.
I knew the city was doing well when Camellia Grill finally reopened! Great food and wonderful servers make it a true NO experience. So glad it's back, NO wasn't the same without it.
Solly's is a small, local house that has a winding lunch counter to sit at. It's a Glendale institution and is often voted best burger.
These are "true" butter burgers. This is not health food, so don't expect it. Watch the cook melt real butter on the grill and throw your patty down.
Order the burger on a "pillow." It's so much better than a bun. Share an order of fries, you won't need the whole thing. Burgers are a little on the small side - big guys should buy more than one.
The shakes are also super tasty. I'd send any out of towner here in an instant.
If you're looking for hard core information about the brewing process and a view of all the equipment, head to Miller. If you want to taste good craft beer and soda, this is the place. Tour is $4 and includes a free glass. Only one tour a day, so you have to call ahead and put your name on the list. Lists open for the week on Monday, so plan ahead.
You get to try as many of the sodas as you'd like and get coupons for up to 4 beers. There was no way we were getting through that many!
This is a great place for beer enthusiasts. Bought a growler of a beer they only sell there for $12.
Previous reviewer is wrong, if you buy them at the store, soda is $0.84 a bottle, beer is about $1.60 a bottle.
Hidden just off North Avenue and Farwell, this place was great to take our niece and the family. Everyone loved the pizza and garlic bread. Cute environment and a nice place to stop in off the beaten path on the East Side.
