Red Hat
Cheap stiff drinks and kareoke on saturday nights - what more could you ask for. Casual, laid-back environment with friendly staff. Place used to be Jace's and is way better now as the Red Hat.
Catfish Charlie's
Cool staff and friendly crowd. No liquor license but they do sell beer and wine which was fine with our group. They have a patio for smokers and chex mix as a snack. Not sure if they served food - we were only there for the beer.
The Pretty Kitty
Waxing shop that does other stuff too. I've only been there for waxing. The staff was friendly and personable. Service was quick and painless. A little pricey but well worth it for a decent wax job.
Noah's Natural Pet Market
Fun easy place to wash your pet. The have waist-high tubs with tethers in case your pet is like mine and tries to jump out mid-bath. Lots of shampoo options including ones for allergies and skin conditions. Reasonably priced with helpful staff and a section that sells toys and treats too.
The Beachcomber
The Beachcomber is a hot singles bar on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sunday's and you can expect live music and a great crowd on Sunday's. Small bar but offers pool, darts and lotsa free popcorn. Great location in South Mission.
Sandbar Sports Grill
Nice selection of beer and friendly staff. Food is good too and there is free parking across the street at the Belmont/Beach lot. Nice open seating downstairs and upstairs for fun people watching in wonderful San Diego weather. Steps from the beach too.
Maloney's
Great location with open bar seating to people watch outdoors downtown. Good pub food and wide selection of beers. If you go for MNF and get there in the 1st Qtr, tehy give you a raffle ticket that you can put in a tub for either team playing that night. Once the game ends they draw tickets and give out a jersey for a player from each team. Its pretty easy to win since most people either dont get there in the 1st quarter or leave before the end of the game. Stay the whole time and you defitinitely have a chance to win a cool jersey.
Rum Jungle
Good smoothies and sandwiches, lots of choices. The people are really friendly and the service is always fast. Owner lets you sample things and also can give recommendations if you aren't sure which smoothie to order. Nice local joint - better than most chain smoothie shops.
Abj Any Alterations
I've gone here twice. Once to get some jeans repaired after they ripped on teh seam and another time to alter a bridesmaid dress. The prices are always reasonable and the lady is very nice who does the alterations. She can give a pretty quick turn around and will rush things if you really need them right away. Plus centrally located in Clairemont Town Square.
Organic To Go
Good food. Centrally located downtown. Near the courthouse - I walked over often while serving on a jury last fall. Reasonable prices, but not cheap. Tastes good, lots of choices. Overall very good, especially if you are into knowing that your food is organic. Wish they bought the food locally though. :)
