I have stayed at the Westin after attending a Benefit at the Stephen's Convention Center and I have to say this location is nicer than Chicago. The beds are extremely comfortable, you literally just sink right into them especially since the pillows are down pillows.
I have stayed at the Sofitel when going to a Benefit at the Stephens Convention Center. I absolutely love this hotel! The beds are SO comfortable and the staff is very friendly. If you have stayed at this Sofitel, you have to try the Chicago location as well.
The W Hotel is a great hotel in the Financial District with spacious and comfortable rooms and also has a couple bar areas that are very crowded with Business Professionals during the week. I have stayed here a few times and have never had any complaints about the room or staff.
I stopped going to this Frank Gironda b/c the staff just seems so inexperienced. I actually had a colorist who was very experienced so that looked good but their spa services aren't good and the staff's attitude is horrible. They just seem really stuck-up and are very rude to their clients. I have also received updo's from here and while it looked good in the salon but about 30 mins later once I started to move around a little, my hair just started falling out of the updo. When I called back to complain, they didn't care, basically said well either come back in or we're not going to do anything about it. I would recommend going to a Great Clips or SuperCuts before going here for a haircut or updo.
Mainstreet is a great place to buy wine and spirits, but it is in Countryside. They have great wine tastings with some themes, such as their chili wine tasting. It is great b/c you get to try people's chili's and the wine that is paired with it. They also have a Fall Wine Tasting that is at the William Tell Holiday Inn and they have some great wines to try that other wine tastings I've been haven't had. If you are looking for an alternative place to sample some wine, Mainstreet is a great place to go.
Peterson's is a small shop in Naperville, off of rt 59 and 87th street. It is a family owned business with one other location in Downtown Naperville. B/c this is a family owned business, the staff knows their frequent customer's names. They have excellent wine and also beer and spirits. If you want a great experience, whether it is just to buy wine or to go to a wine tasting, I definitely recommend checking out Peterson's.
I will never go to another theater after going to Hollywood. First, they have a bar, 2nd they have food not just popcorn and candy, 3rd they have very comfortable leather chairs with tables in front of you. Now if you go here, you have to know that people aren't going to be quiet so expect to hear people around you talking. The movie is really loud though, so it doesn't matter either way. I haven't seen a movie in a "normal" theater for the past few years and don't plan on it.
This is definitely a bar for people who are in their early 20s. The placed used to be packed a few years ago and when I just recently went for a free party, it was compeltely empty. If you win a free party, don't go if you don't want their "house" liquer and no juice included. There were so many restrictions on what you could have that it wasn't even worth it.
Martini Park is definitely a bar for people in their upper 20's and 30's but you will get a completely different experience depending on the night you go. If you go on a Friday night it is a very mixed crowd ranging from people in their 20's all the way up to their 40's. Saturday is younger crowd with 20 and 30 somethings. The martini's are okay, almost too strong to drink, and it is obviously pricey. For a mixed drink it was around $10-$12. Overall I've never had a bad time and I like the fact that it is a mixed crowd. I would definitely recommend going at least once.
The Foundry is a great place to go to watch any games. There are a ton of huge flat screen around the place and it gets packed during any sports game so get there early. Their appetizers are actually good for a sports bar. They have top shelf alcohol as well, which is good. In the summer they have an outdoor volleyball court and a room for off track betting. All and all a great place to go if you want that sports bar atmosphere.
