This store has a ton of Northwestern items, but the downstairs also has anything you'd need to represent your fraternity or sorority. They have decorations for paddles and random novelties. Things are a bit pricey, but it's one of the only places in the city to find greek wear.
The Evanston Grill is okay, but it's not anything special. The food is fine, but it's like anything you'd find at any of the other little grills on Main St. They have burgers, other grilled sandwiches, and typical American foods. It's cheap though.
This is the best place to study in Evanston. I'm a student at Loyola, but it's worth it to make the trek to Evanston because this is the only coffee shop where I can focus. They have great prices, great coffee, and a few food items. I love getting breakfast here, too!
Their pizza is always fresh and very tasteful. They have tons of toppings to choose from. The atmosphere is very enjoyable. On the wall, there is a huge sketch mural of Manhattan that is beautiful. The staff is incredibly friendly, and they make you feel welcomed. It's a great place to grab dinner before a show, but be prepared to wait if you show up past 6:30 p.m.
The food at Dairy Freez is the same type that you could get at a concession stand at a baseball game, but it's also a sit down restaurant. It's a nice place to stop by in the morning, grab a coffee, and read the newspaper. It's in the heart of Clarksville, so you tend to see many older locals going here. It has a lot of personality, and I highly recommend it.
This is very "down-home" breakfast food. I recommend their biscuits with gravy. Most of the locals in Carbondale seem to go here quite often. They also have sandwiches and burgers, but they focus on their extensive breakfast.
I love their cupcakes and their location. The only problem is, this place can be super packed in the afternoon. Once I went here around 3 p.m. on a Tuesday, and the line was out the door and around the corner.
Lakota is the accent to downtown to Columbia. You can always get college students hanging out here. It's the best coffee shop in the city. The only problem with it is that they don't have a patio where you can sit outside. It's a great place to go to study or to chat with friends. However, it is usually packed inside.
Capers food is vibrantly tasteful! The atmosphere is elegant, and the food falls in line. It's a bit on the pricier side, but it's worth it. Their entrees are wonderful, and have great presentation. It's more of an adult restaurant than family-friendly, but they do have a children's menu. If you're going for dinner, I recommend making reservations.
My meal is always perfect each time I go. I usually just get a bean burrito. They have great appetizers! The atmosphere is very chill, and it's a great place to stop in for a relaxing lunch if you've spent the day in Hillcrest shopping. The prices are very reasonable.
