Great bar, but it is pretty crowded most of the time. There are pool tables for those that enjoy the game. Best if you go early to get a spot to sit. It is usually pretty full of locals and college kids from QU. There aren't usually any drink specials, but sometimes they offer $3 pitchers.
A genuine home-town atmosphere is a local favorite for pub food and drinks. It is a great place to meet friends or family for a relaxing drink or meal. However, it can get loud later in the evening and gets very crowded on Wednesdays for Karoke. The menu is diverse and sure to please all guests. The appetizers are particularly fantastic. The Abbey is known for their version of the ??blooming onion? and large homemade cheesesticks.
A hip salon in Des Moines, East Village, Salon W boasts the Aveda name. The staff is trendy, professional and extremely talented. J was my stylist for a year before leaving town. A fun atmosphere, free hand wax treatment and stylish color and cuts make a lasting impression.
Though I haven??t had Lance do a color treatment on my hair personally, his reputation is fabulous!
I have been a patron of Ellen??s at Hair MD for the last 9 years. I wouldn??t let anyone else color my hair. She does a fabulous job for a reasonable price. She regularly attends Redken shows to keep up with the latest trends and techniques. The other girls in the shop, Michelle and Abby are fabulous as well. Michelle is known around town, not only for her stylish cuts and colors but also her uniquely fresh special occasion up-dos.

Although the atmosphere at Wynns is less than impressive, the food is fantastic and the menu is inexpensive. The Pizza is a local favorite and the service is wonderful.
The Brick House is a new local hot-spot. The atmosphere is very hip with brick exposed walls and tall tin tiled ceilings. The bar is somewhat small but has pleanty of room around it for additional seating if necessary. The Italian menu has become a quick favorite ranging from a bit spicy cavatelli to Chicago Style Pizza. They also have an excellent appetizer selection.
