Okay, so it's not Disney, but Camp Eder is definitely one of my favorite places on earth! Camp Eder is an incredibly well kept, serene camp in a beautiful setting! There is a creek running through the camp with a rope swing that the kids can swing out into the creek on, and they offer a variety of building options in which to stay. They offer meal service as an option, so if you choose that, all you have to do is show up in the dining hall at mealtimes! Or if you are going more rustic and camping in covered wagons, you can always cook on the grill or over an open campfire. I have stayed in their large lodge with the dining hall, a smaller, more modern quaint lodge complete with covered porch and in the covered wagons! I have enjoyed every single one of them, and make a point of visiting Camp Eder twice a year!
Camp Happy Valley is run by the Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council of GSUSA. It is a very nice camp and is kept in great condition. I have been involved in several summer Day Camps run at this location, and we always have ample room for our activities and find that things are usually kept in very good condition!
This particular location is actually not a store, but the address of the Music & Arts Center main office. I have dealt with this office on several occasions regarding my monthly billing and am happy to say that they have always been extremely helpful and informative! Now if only some of this could rub off on their storefront employees...
I've been in this shop several times, as it seems to be the most convenient music store to my home. Although they have always met basic needs, it is not a large store and does not offer a lot of variety. The staff has always been helpful in assisting me with finding what I needed. Good reliable small town shop.
We have shopped at Trout's Market for years, and still keep going back! Although they do not have as big of a selection as the chain grocery stores, they carry a little bit of everything! The employees are always super friendly, and it is one of those places that if you keep going, "everybody knows your name". The deli has hot food at lunchtime for carryout, as well as a fantastic seafood selection. They will steam your crabs or shrimp to order, and season them for you as well. A couple of times a year, Trout's Market has their big "meat sale" where you can get awesome deals to stock your freezer! They also sell local meats and produce, and when they have sales, their prices on everything are competitive with the chain store sales. Definitely the best country store ever!
My whole family absolutely LOVES Dr. Hummel! We followed him from a Frederick practice to Mount Airy years ago when he ventured out on his own. I have serious dental anxiety issues, and Dr. Hummel is so patient and caring, and puts me at ease every time I visit! My kids all love going there, as does my husband. We drive 40 minutes just to see him! I highly recommend visiting Dr. Hummel if you are in the market for a new dentist!
I have given this place a try several times, but have decided I will definitely not be going back. The restaurant itself is very casual dining and the decor is bland. This would all be okay if the prices were on the same playing field, but they are not. They are EXPENSIVE! The food is mediocre, and definitely not worth that much money!
Linitini's Restaurant has been a long time favorite of mine for a quick (but NOT fast-food type) lunch! They are fantastic about getting orders out quickly at lunchtime to meet the high demand of business customers. They also offer carry-out, which is nice if I am on the run. They are the only place I have found around here that makes Italian Hoagies the way my mom made them, and for that, I LOVE them! Their french fries also rock! They also have "lunch specials" where you can order a sandwich or pizza, fries and a drink for one set price. Nice!
We have ordered from China Wok for many years, and keep going back! The food has always been good, and the staff very friendly. We have ordered take out, delivery and eaten in the dining room. I have been there just for a family dinner, and a group of women from my church had a "Birth Celebration Lunch" there for me after I delivered my fourth child. It has always been good quality food and we have never had any problems there!
Bugs & Buttercups carries both new and used clothing. One side of the store is where you will find all of the "new clothing", and the other side is dedicated to consignment. The new clothing is extremely expensive, though it looks to be very good quality. Even still, I can't justify spending that much money in a consignment store for clothes that my kids are most definitely going to put a hurting on!
EDITED 11/13/08 TO ADD:
Yesterday was my daughter's birthday, so we stopped in Bugs & Buttercups. I was hoping I could let her pick out a little toy for her special day since we were not giving her a birthday present until later in the evening when my husband would be home. As we walked through the store, she picked up things here and there to look at them, but I always made her put them back. As we were headed out, she saw a doll she really wanted and was holding it. I asked to see it, and she handed it to me. It had no price on it. I asked the lady at the counter, and she said it was $10. I explained to my daughter that we would not be getting that doll (too expensive for what it was, and it had lots of little pieces to fall off and be lost by her little sister!) I attempted to divert her attention to some finger puppets. I took her hand as she geared up for a fit, and her hand was all sticky. She reached for a finger puppet, and I told her no, not to touch because her hands were all sticky. The lady at the counter glared at me and said, "Well I hope that doesn't mean that the doll is all sticky now too!" She made me feel HORRIBLE, and it was obviously something that my daughter had touched in their store that made her hands sticky since they weren't sticky when we walked in! I was shocked at how she spoke to me since obviously I was not a neglectful parent or customer, and took care to make sure my daughter put everything back where it belonged, and obviously once I KNEW that her hand was sticky, I did not let her touch anymore toys! I left the store and will NEVER go back!
