I have, unfortunately, needed the services of an auto repair shop twice in the last half year. Both times, the proprietor, Mike Draughn, got our car in very quickly. The bodywork that he did on the car was great...the paint matched perfectly each time, and he was able to repair both cars with no signs of the damage received in accidents. I felt that his prices were very fair, and he honored the price of his estimate even though I think it ended up taking him longer than he first thought. I was extremely pleased with his service and with his work.
I received my first pedicure here. It was great!! I was at first rather uncomfortable because I knew they had men working there and that my legs would be massaged as part of the pedicure. It felt so good, however, that I did not care!! I hope that they washed the tub out after my feet soaked before the next walk-in customer---maybe I missed them doing this, but I did not see that it was done.
This little factory in a very small town makes delicios potato chip, carmel corn, cheese popcorn, and other snacks. The chips are crispy and not greasy at all. They are very good, and I strongly recommend this brand if you have becer tried them.
This store has recently reopened after being closed for about one year. The great thing about this is that the merchandise is all new and fresh; when the store temporarily closed last year they unloaded all of their stock...and some of it had been there for too long. The proprietor, Melissa, is great about putting outfits together; she gives honest opinions about what works for a person and what does not. For a small town, she carries a good choice of name-brand clothing: Koret, Alfred Dunner, and many others.
My son has used the services of C. F. Pierce twice in the last year. Both times he received what we considered great legal representation. Mr. Pierce basically handles criminal cases. He was able to really help out my son when he unfortunately received a D.U.I. charge. His services are rather pricey, but you get what you pay for!!
Cherish offers up-to-date hair styling for men and women, old and young. She operates this shop out of the basement of her home. Several people have said that they can not get an appointment as quickly as they would like, which is a good sign of doing lots of business. Her prices are probably a little higher than some of the other beaticians in the area.
The Plant Factory, run by Mrs. Sharon, carries a good variety of flowers and vegetables to plant. She carries one whole greenhouse of just different kinds of tomatoes alone!! She is very helpful if advice is needed about the best kind of seedling to buy. In the last few years, they have added a very small little shop that sells fresh flower arrangements, but I have never used that....it looks very limited in what they offer.
This store offers a wide variety of used cd's, games, and things like that at very reasonable prices. The thing is that I am not always sure of the quality when I buy things like this used; however, I have made several purchases there, and have not been disappointed.
Dr. McPherson is a great, caring, and compassionate doctor. Slightly over a year ago he switched from private practice and now works for the Health Center at WIU. He was my family doctor since he first came to town in about 1973, and I miss him!! The college kids will get excellent care from this dedicated doctor.
This store offers a good selection of textbooks needed for WIU and other local colleges. Their prices are fair, and they will order what you need if they do not have it in stock.
