Club One at Yerba Buena
This is the closed gym to my office, so it was a no brainer to choose this gym over crunch or some of the more expensive options. The monthly price was $68 which isn't great, but its not nearly as bad as some of the other options in the area. The outside pool is nice, but its small (only 4 lanes). There are plenty of treadmills and I've never seen them all taken at once. The area with free weights is fairly tiny and there isn't always room for all the people. Also, they keep this place entirely too hot. Overall I've been happy with the gym, its good but not great and I"ll take that if it means not beeing overly crowded all the time.
Baby Blues BBQ
This place has great bbq. The bbq'd fish was delicious and the ribs were super tender. They do have a large selection of different types of bbq as well, even an eastern NC style pulled pork sandwich
Fang
I really enjoy this place. the food is always delicious and the presentation is second to none. I highly recommend the white fish or the sesame chicken off their lunch menu. Both are fantastic!
Presidio Theatre
I went here for the first time over the weekend. I really love this place! Its very old and very cozy. I was actually in theater 4, which only seats about 50 people. 8 rows of seats with only 6 seats/row. If you're looking for a cool, old, neighborhood theatre to watch a movie, look no further!
rickhouse
This is simply the best place in the Financial district for cocktails. The menu is extensive, but I usually just ask the bartender to make a good whiskey cocktail and I've never been disappointed. The rye maple fizz is especially delicious. Be prepared for a packed bar however. There maybe even a line on a friday evening for happy hour!
Anchor & Hope
This is a great place for seafood in SOMA. We had the smoked oysters wrapped in bacon for our appetizer and they were fantastic! My entree was even better. Seared scallops with a spicy garlic sauce over couscous. The restaurant layout is very open so if you want a very quit private dinner then this isn't the place. However if you're looking for a vibrant (albeit a bit noisy) seafood restaurant in SOMA with a good wine selection then this is the place!
Grove Cafe
I really like this place. The interior is very rustic with old couches and comfy stuffed chairs all around. The menu is fairly simple but definitely filled with quality food. It reminds me of small coffee shops in the mountains. I'll definitely be back here anytime I'm looking for a cool spot before heading out to the movies, the presidio theater is 1 block down.
Koh Samui & The Monkey
I've just been here once. Our whole party enjoyed the meal and we were seated fast even though we had a party of seven. Do not however order the pad thai, it was pretty bad. The broccoli and cabbage ruined the dish
Episode Salon
I generally hating getting a haircut and only do it every few months, but I really enjoy this place. Cindy is awesome, if you go you should definitely ask for her.
Burma Super Star Restaurant
I love this restaurant. I dont agree with the other reviewers comment that its a "hidden gem" since there is usually an hour wait to get inside, but its well worth the wait anyway! If you're with a groups its a good idea to order family style and share the dishes so you can try lots of the fantastic menu items.
