Bocadillos
I'm not a big fan of small plates, but I still enjoyed this restaurant. The waitress was nice and not pretentious and the food was very good. We also had 3 bottles of wine so that may have clouded our judgment ;)
Burger Bar at Macy's Union Square
This place had only been open for less than a week when I went so you may want to take this review with a grain of salt. First off the burgers were amazing! No problems at all with the food. It did take about 20 mins to bring out the entres but we were all having a few drinks so we didn't mind the wait. The bartenders however were terrible. They had to look up an old fashioned on the drink rolodex......and it showed. It was quite terrible.
Lone Palm
This is definitely one of the best bars in the mission. The best description I've heard for this bar is "classy but divey" and its dead on. Not the best whiskey selection but a good bar none the less.
Cha Am
This is a great lunch spot in SOMA. The food is always great and there's never a wait. The prices are also very reasonable. The bbq chicken they server is amazing!
Jillian's
This is probably the best place for a crowd to play a little pool in soma. As far as the food goes, its just mediocre. They do have more tv's than any other sports bar I've been to in SF. Including 9 projection screens on 1 wall. It is the perfect place to catch march madness.
Thirstybear Brewing Company
If you want good beers, then this is the place. If you want over priced food then this is also your place. Overall the bar doesn't feel like it has much soul to it. It is a decent place however to grab a quick beer after work if you dont mind a slightly pretentious vibe.
Toaster Oven Sandwich Shop
This place has pretty good sandwiches. The roast beef sandwich is especially good. This is actually a great place to go if you're trying to eat a little less for lunch. The sandwiches are pretty small and they dont come with a side. The sandwiches are also *very* cheap! Most sandwiches are around $5
The Chieftain
This might be the best pub in SOMA. But of course thats not saying much. It's really just a basic bar with a few good beers. Nothing special but atleast it doesn't bring out the "suits" each day after work.
Zeitgeist
This bar is a neighborhood institution. everyone has to go here atleast once. It does have a great outside area with lots of picnic tables but it will be crowded!
Eden Drive-In
I love this place! I mean what town still has s drive in? There are often times triple features of first run movies and you can watch all 3 for less than 10 bucks! Its like stepping back in time.
