Great Hidden Little Spot. Went here for my brother's birthday. Staff is exuberant and on the spot! They all cheer when people enter and leave. Super friendly. I'm always a bit apprehensive about ordering sushi when i'm not on the coast. But this place is AMAZING. My favorite sushi of all time is Samurai near my place in Solana Beach. But if I lived in Scripps Ranch, I would definelty opt for this place just as well. Their rolls are super fresh, service is on spot. They even have the dynamite appetizer my husband loves.
If you're in the area and in the mood for sushi, this is a must.
If you are looking for a good wholesome breakfast, look no further. This is my hangover cure. Casual, no frills, great food. My husband loves it b/c their portions are large. Manhole size pancakes are literally the size of manholes! I always order the denver omelet, never disappointed. They're homefries are great too. Dog Friendly if you eat on patio. They even bring water out for Fido. Neighborhood- Friendly spot. Typical to see guests come in their pj's. Cash only but they have an atm inside. Great SPOT.
Cute breakfast spot. Romantic dinner location. Items on menu are different, they infuse several flavors together with some of their off the wall dishes. Their rosemary potatoes are great, i really love their pb and jelly toast, not sure what they do, but it is really really good. On weekends expect a line, but they have a coffee bar with sugar/creams outside while you are waiting. Dog friendly if you eat on the patio. Only have been to dinner here twice. Pork chop dinner is amazing, thick center cut, totally recommend it!!
Great stop for a nice fish sandwich or cup of soup before or after a game. Fish sandwiches are pretty good and the serve drinks too. Right across the trolley tracks from the convention center, if you're in the area, i recommend trying it.
I met my dad for lunch during the week here. Amazing. the fish is the freshest you can find anywhere. Prices are right. People come from all over the county to purchase their fish here. Instead of going to a fancy seafood restaurant, come here, order a customizable filet/cut of your favorite fish and suprise your significant other with a couple candles and world class fish dinner at home! They'll even marinate or flavor it for you and give you tips on cooking! Not a fancy place to dine in, but the fish can't be beat. Great for picnic spot on a warm day and overlooks the bay.
Fun! Thursday nights are 4.50 sangrias. MM, very good. Appetizers are pretty darn good, calamari, different kinds of flavored mussels exquisite. Tacos are great! duck, calamari, mahi, you name it, they serve it and they are GREAT. Live music and seating outside on patio. Only minus is the crowd, small space that gets packed early, so come early or make reservations b/c there will only be standing room avail. after 8 or 9 on busy nights. Love to come here with my girlfriends for sangria night!!
A regular spot for us to grab a drink or two or three....
before we head out on the town or for a night cap on the way home. Bar is fun, definitely an older crowd that has earned it its dub: the cougar den.. but don't let it fool you, the young kids, 20's and 30's show up around 10 to hang out and listen/dance to the live piano bar in the lounge.. For dining, the steaks and prime rib are equivalent if not better than major steakhouses, donovans, ruth chris, maitre d, manhattan room, mr. A's, mcormick and schmidt's....only Red Tracton's has a romantic, friendly home-feel enviornment to it. Staff is impeccable and cannot be beat. Super friendly, really go out of their way to make your experience absolutely superb!! After only 3 visits, the host, bartender etc. all remembered our names and we can't help but returning for the impeccable service, friendly atomosphere, and FANTASTIC food. PS. if you dine there be sure and order a loaded bake potato. Servings are plentiful, splitting recommended. You won't be disappointed!!
The brie appetizer was good, perhaps i heard too much of how wonderful it was before i went... lots of different flavors infused together....some mole, green chili, bread/crusted brie, and jalenpeno jelly...yum! For dinner i had the cedar planked salmon which was great, wasn't a fan of the purple cheessy pasta served with it. My husband had the best dish of all... bone in ribeye with cheesy spiced mashed potatoes and a corn based tamale which was AWESOME... we mixed up pieces of steak, tamale and mashed potatoes in eggs the next morning ( i added garlic/onion/evoo) and heated up some corn tortillas...sounds wierd i know but it was FANTASTIC!! For dessert at the restaurant we shared a glass of port and sugar coated flautas that were filled with a mixture of bananas and cheescake...pretty awesome, but I would recommend less cheesecake, more banana and have more raspberry sauce instead of lemon sauce on the side.
We will definitely be back!!
Bartender makes good drinks, appetizers are yummy. But nothing outstanding to warrant the prices apart from the location...though there is no view. Overpriced for quality that is underpar, a bit of a disppointment for a downtown la jolla restaurant... quality does not warrant prices... But if you have money to splurge and do not care about quality and only interested in meeting people and being at a seemingly "posh" location, go for it. There are a lot of other spots that are posh, fun, draw a great crowd and have impeccable service and worth the cost.
