Surrounded by all those chain shopping stores, here is a place to hang out after work. Enjoy the happy hour with your co-workers. The open air ceiling makes it loud. And it can get a little crowded.
When the kids were younger, the deal was happy meals for them and Mongolian take-out for me. Now we get two bowls for take out and share it among all three of us. Our lunch-time group makes the trip from Morris-ville. We take the time to eat-in because the one-bowl lunch is reasonable. At night, it all you can eat but that get expensive with the kids.
It appears this use to be another establishment. Our family goes here when we need to get a meal before going downtown. The best deal on the menu is where you pick an entree and two sides. My son loves the fish and chips and mom likes that he gets applesauce and green beans. I had the beef tips. A good portion, good taste, great service, great price. One draw back might be that it is a bar. If that bother you, there are a lot more high-end place further down Glen-wood.
I always though it best to go there on a nice night so that you can sit out front and people watch. But the wife and I stopped on one of the rare date nights this winter. It was very cozy inside. And we had an enjoyable conversation. Of course the great dessert didn't hurt.
The seating is tight, but you don't mind because it means you can get a seat quicker. The food is just down-home. The wait staff is friendly and responsive even in the tight spaces. The Saturday morning we were there, there was a band playing out front.
The walls, shelves, window sills, and another other space is covered in fire department memorabilia. And the food is great too. On your first trip there, it might be a bit hard to find. It is in a strip plaza next to a Food Lion. The old-time fire truck that they use for catering may help. If you have kids, it worth a trip.
The Jessie James BBQ chicken sandwich is one of my favorite menu item. The fries are always good. The last time, my son was with our lunch-time work crowd. He got the BBQ rib meal. He got two meals out of it. And he enjoyed it both times.
I have used them for my son's Y-guide and my daughter's Y-princess tribes. We order ball caps with the tribe name and a logo on the front and the individual name on the back. The embroidery was very good, the hats were a good quality, and the price was very reasonable.
The floor plan is broken up. It's like several connected store fronts. Walking through I didn't think much of it. But we were meeting another couple and after claiming our space at one of the bars, it made for a nice place for an evening of drinks and conversation.
This is a great place to stop after doing the Raleigh downtown. Took the family there after a play. It was before the evening rush, so the kids got to roam a bit before our food arrived. The wait staff kept an eye on them. Good food, good service, and good times.
