Wonderful Middle Eastern food -- one of the best in the LA area. Better to go here for lunch -- its quiet and you'll get better service. If you don't like crowds, avoid Fri and Sat evenings -- That's when they have their live entertainment shows. (amazing belly dancers, btw.)
It's fun to order family style and share. Excellent lulu kebab, cheese boureg, etc..
If you've never had Armenian coffee, (and you like espresso), try it here.
Lenscrafters Lenshafters. Big corporate monolith. My mom went here and they charged her a fortune for her glasses. And they were even 'old lady' glasses. I would advise you to support your local optomatrist instead.
SALADS are why I love eating at CPK. Very creative ingredients, always very fresh. May favorites are the Waldorf and the BBQ Chicken Salad. (P.S.The chicken they put in the salads is high quality.) Their tortilla soup is YUM, too. They seem to be getting pricier, but still worth it.
Nice to have a place like this in Sierra Madre. Love the Only Place in Town for traditional fare, but Charcuterie's offerings are a nice deviation from the norm. Great salads, sandwiches, and also a good place for Sunday brunch. Love those mimosas!
My only complaint is that the service can vary wildly. Maybe they have trouble keeping good wait staff???
Wonderful Ribs. Meat was tender. Good cornbread. Yummy coleslaw. Big portions, reasonable prices. Interior is nothing fancy to look at; but really who cares.
I have adopted three cats from the PHS over the years, with great results. I actually don't mind that they are very thorough in their screening process. The staff members who interviewed me seemed very capable and knowledgeable.
However, I did want to mention a problem I had when I made a service call not long ago. We had discovered that a young kitten was lodged between our office building and the building next to ours. This kitten was obviously in distress and was crying plaintively. We could not get close to it -- the space between the buildings was too small for a human being to get in. The animal was terribly frightened. I called the PHS to ask for their help.
I was hoping they could send someone out to help us catch the poor little guy. They told me that they could not send anyone out unless we caught the kitten. But that was the whole problem -- we couldn't catch it! They then said that if we went to the shelter, we could borrow one of their cat traps.
So we drove over there, spent time parking and walking around the block, waited in line for about 20 minutes in their office, and then were told that there was a 6-week waiting period for cat traps. That is completely nuts!! NOT helpful!! And I donate money to these guys. Please use the money to better train your staff!!!
I love to bring guests here from out-of-town. The food and service never fail to impress. Who needs to drive to the West Side for Spago or Patina, when you have world class restaurants like the Parkway Grill right here in Pasadena?
The interior has a wonderful feel to it. You see their wood-fired oven right as you walk in. Incredible floral displays, weathered brick walls, and skylights really liven up the large dining room.
For a starter, I recommend the dungeness crab cake. Yum. My fiance's favorite entree is the whole fried catfish; mine is the mushroom ravioli. For dessert, the creme brulee Napoleon is outstanding.
Its one thing to deliver great food, but to do it consistently for 20 years or more is remarkable.
I recently had an eye exam at Linden Optometry with Dr. Marian Yan, and she was wonderful. It was the BEST, most THOROUGH eye exam I think I've ever had. (And I've been wearing glasses since I was in elementary school.) She's knowledgeable and has a very professional manner, and she gave me great advice. I highly recommend her if you need an optometrist.
They also have an employee there named Fred, who is a MASTER at repairing and adjusting glasses. Its amazing what that guy can do with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. :)
