I brought two pairs of pants to the SD Tailoring Shop to be taken in. The results of what they did were sloppy and looked like a home ec student could have done better. I had to take them to another tailor to fix the shoddy work.
When the heel of my pumps broke midstep, I went into the Beacon Hill Shoe Repair to see if they could help me out. Despite having what looked like a mountain of work already, they took my shoe and in no time, had it repaired for me.
I've been taking my drycleaning to Danny's for years. They alwasy do a great job, never any problems. They're easy to get to and have reasonable problems.
As long as you understand what you're getting yourself into should you choose to drop your shoes off at Odessa Shoe Repair, you'll be fine. The owner knows his stuff, there's no doubt about it - but - he also has no filters on expressing his thoughts about anything regarding your shoes - out loud. If he thinks you take horrible care of your shoes, he'll tell you. If he thinks your shoes are cheap - he'll tell you. If he thinks you buy expensive shoes but your clothing taste doesn't match - he'll tell you that too. He's the shoe nazi of Boston.
My husband had his shoes shined on occasion from a Shining Example. Their people are always very courteous, friendly and do a fabulous job in shining shoes.
We received quality workmanship from Downtown Crossing Instant Shoe when we took several pairs of shoes in to be resoled. Their prices are reasonable and for what you get, well worth the trip.
I intially went to Equilibrium Bodywork & Yoga for their yoga classes, but found that Tom the instructor, is really a licensed practitioner in bodywork. I had him work on my lower back and have to say, he made a huge difference! I'm not having nearly the amount of issues with my lower back anymore.
My friend bought me a Lotuspad Eco Yoga Mat for my birthday and I have to say, I just love it! It's not your traditional cheapie yoga mat, this is a high quality, bio-degradable, green matt made out of very soft material. I don't know what makes it green or soft, I can only tell you that it does. I love my mat and the knowledge that I'm helping the environment by using it.
I wish all yoga studios would limit their class size. I hate being squashed in a room full of sweaty people trying their best to follow an instructor. All in One Yoga would be 5 stars in my book if they would just limit their class size.
I enjoyed the hot yoga class I took at the Baptiste Power Yoga studio but I was more than a little put off by how large the class was. It was much too crowded, making it difficult to fully enjoy the poses and even to hear the instructor. If they would limit their classes, I'd go back.
