Went tonight to see Kathleen Madigan and my whole body hurts from laughing. As far as the club goes, we paid a bit extra for reserved seating and it was a great investment. We were a few seats from the stage. We got there an hour early to eat before the show. We ended up seated with a nice couple and had a nice chat and some prime rib that was slightly above expectations. Prices were a bit high but not as bad as I'd suspected. As others have said, there is NO space between you and the person next to you but that's the way it is in comedy clubs.
The local DJ who hosted was pretty funny, the opening act was great. It was an awesome time. Who'd a thunk that something exciting could happen in Pleasanton?
I'm not the biggest Peet's fan in the world. It's another coffee chain. I don't get the people who find Peet's cozier or more benevolent than Starbucks. But the coffee is strong and I like that. This particular location gets a thumbs up for hiring people who are not as attitudinal as some other Peet's locations. Thumbs down for not nearly enough tables outside. The traffic noise on Tassajara can be deafening so it's not always great on that side of the patio anyway but it would beat standing. When people are using the chained up tables and chairs in front of Amici's in the morning, it's a sign that there might be a problem.
This place has absolutely everything. I love the appliances from the 50s (although they're brand new!) from back before stainless steel, granite countered cathedrals. If you want a saddle, an oven, a hammer and a small tractor and you want it all in one trip, there's nowhere else to go. It's right near the airport. If you have some time on your way in or out of town, treat yourself to a visit. It's a mindblower.
Whenever I'm in Austin, this is the first place I go. Just north of a 'dive', it's perfect. I love Wednesdays when you can catch Toni Price and sometimes James McMurtry. If you love good Austin style music, you can't go wrong here. I've never had anything less than a stellar time!
The first time I came here, I saw Dr. Emily Burnham and was really impressed because I am a baby when it comes to anyone poking around my eyes. She was nice enough to be very gentle, not rush me and not make me feel like a 3 year-old. This time around, saw Dr. Kamena. Same great service I got from Dr. Burnham. Since I was last in, they picked up some nice new lines of frames. Some great euro styles. I've gotten two pairs of glasses from them and one pair of sunglasses and all of the prescriptions were right on the mark. All in all, pretty hip for Livermore~
What a dork. I've eaten here a dozen times and have never written a review apparently. I love this place. They recently redecorated a bit which is nice. Gotta keep up with the triendier Star Anise down the street I guess. From the first time, I've loved this place and over the last 5 years, the service, food and decor have been upgraded. Not cheap but very tasty. Consider Lemongrass RECOMMENDED~
I love this place again. I loved it years ago and then it went down hill but it's back. Just after the ownership change a couple of years ago, I thought the place was a goner but it's slowly worked it's way back.
Was there to watch football today and couldn't help but notice the really cheap beers (pints - plentiful selection), wonderful server and the usual large numbers of high quality TVs pumping out NFL action. The food is about the same at it ever was but frankly, I never had a problem with it. Anyone who goes to a sports bar expecting the food to be much better than it is at The Rockhouse is destined for a life of crushing disappointments. I think it's quite good for sports bar food.
It's always a fun crowd and has a light airy feel to it. Jen, our server, was fantastic and good humored and fine with the fact that we were going to take up a table for more than 3 hours while very slowly eating a couple of plates of chicken wings and some potato skins. Touchdown!
I love Bent Creek and recently joined the wine club there. The map on this page is a little deceiving. They're located on Greenville Rd in the heart of what I think is the best wine in Livermore for the most part. Across from McGrail, this is a great area to head to for a super day in Livermore. Bent Creek has a full line of wines including port. Their new Red On Red ia fantastic. The tasting room is friendly and the grounds are beautiful. Check it out!
I was looking for lunch and decided to treat myself to a sit down, no guy in a paper hat real lunch. I drive by this place every morning on my way to work and it's packed beyond belief. I thought that's I'd have better luck for lunch. Well, it was still pretty packed but I couldn't wait for a table so I sat at the counter. They're open from 7 am to 3 pm and serve the entire menu the whole time. Even though it was lunchtime, the chorizo scramble was singing to me. While I waited, I wanted to change my order ten times. Everything that came up looked fabulous (note to self: steak sandwich~). My scramble was marvelous. I asked for a side of very well done hash browns and they showed up burnt beyond recognition. No star deduction because it was exactly what I asked for. I'm so used to ordering that and having them show up barely brown in other places. Now I know they take your order seriously! If you don't like the food here, you weren't really looking for diner food. Also, they do serve beer and wine in addition to mimosas and bloody marys. Service was quick and friendly. This place is a find!
This place is a blast! The bocce is wonderful, the menu has occassional clunkers but for the most part is excellent and they have great Livermore wines (and others for the unenlightened). Great appetizers. On a nice day or night, eat out on the gorgeous patio. One of the gems of Livermore.
