Rude, rude, and more rude. DISAPPOINTED.
My husband swore up and down that this doctor had been his pediatrician, oh so many years ago, and was just a fabulous doctor. My husband is a great guy who had quite a bit of health problems as a kid. So when our newborn baby came down with a typical "newbie" rash, he wanted to take our little guy in, right away, to see her. I insisted that what our tiny guy had was nothing to be concerned with, (I have 2 other kiddos from a previous marriage), but I agreed to see the "Great Dr. Carbonell" anyhow.
She blew right past us when she entered the exam. Not a greeting or even a question about why we were there. She simply opened his 'chart' and began reading. After about 3 minutes, she looked up and told us to undress the baby and she'd be back soon. We undressed him and waited about 12 more minutes. RIDICULOUS. Our baby was only 2 days old and it was COLD in the exam room- and here we were, waiting on her- with a naked newborn!. Our little guy began to fuss, so I decided to nurse him while we waited....and waited. She came back after about 15 minutes and when she saw I was nursing him, she quickly let herself out of the room until, "..he is done.", she mumbled as she vacated. Silly. It only takes a moment to unlatch a baby, she needn't have run out of the room so fast.
And she was clearly bothered by his breastfeeding. When she finally did come back into the room, (we had to go ask a front desk person to please send her back), she demanded to know how much he consumes when he nurses. What?! He was only 2 days old! My milk hadn't even come in yet! What kind of experienced pediatrician doesn't know that? I told her that the REASON we were there was for a rash, not his feeding schedule. She spent literally 4 seconds looking over the baby's skin before she declared that it was "..nothing to worry about. All babies get this. It goes away in a day or two." Then she walked right out of the room- AGAIN! No explanation, no asking us about his birth history, no finding out if we had any other concerns. No talking whatsoever. I've never been to a doctor, pediatrician or otherwise, this incorrigible ever!
I heard she'll be retiring soon, thank goodness.
