My mother in law asked me to help her find a tailor to alter her party dress. The problem with the dress is that it was about 3 sizes too big for her and involved literally making a new dress out of the old one for her. To make things even more complicated, the dress was covered in beads and sequins. We took it to two other tailors who told her they either couldn't do it or would't do it. When we finally hit Shine Alteration at the suggestion of my sister, we were first given a raised eyebrow, but the gentleman who assisted us told us he would take on the project. It took some time between measurements and a fitting, but in the end, the dress came out beautifully. He was able to re-create the dress to fit my mother in law and made her look like a queen.
Mari at Express Alterations does very good work - especially when you're in a pinch. I needed some last minute alterations made to a dress and she was able to pull out the stops for me. She worked her magic in just a few hours. She's a really nice person to boot!
A-Class Cleaners was slow in getting my dry cleaning done. I dropped off a skirt, two blouses and a jacket to be cleaned and told they would be completed in a week. I went back after a week only to be told it would take a few more days. I went back again, to be told yet again, it would take a few extra days due to how busy they were. I demanded my clothing back and went elsewhere.
Jasmine Cleaners was a disappointment. I brought in several of my husband's shirts that came out in no better condition than when I had dropped them off. When I complained, I was told the stains wouldn't come out. Interestingly enough, I took the same shirts to a different cleaner. They didn't seem to have any problems.
I took several sets of drapes out of storage and brought them to Joy Alteration Cleaners to be cleaned and pressed. They're not fast by any means (it took almost a week and a half), but the end result was what I wanted - clean, freshly pressed drapes to hang.
My husband is very picky about his clothing. He's very hard to please, so once he finds a tailor that he loves, he's loyal for life. John's European Alterations has now won my husband's hard earned loyalty. John's did such a good job on tailoring my husband's jacket, he had them make several shirts for him, which all turned out beautifully. After searching literally for years, he's finally found the only tailor he'll allow to touch his clothes.
I brought several of my patio chair covers to Continental Fabric & Alterations for them to recover them and was incredibly pleased with the results. I was referred to them by a friend who had had them work on her outdoor furniture covers and was pleased. I can see why! They were so nice to work with and had creative ideas on the direction we should go in. I'm very pleased with them.
The very nice lady who works at Roya Designs did a great job for me when I took in several pairs of pants to get hemmed. She was quick, meticulous with her stichery and very pleasant when I picked the garments up. I've referred her to several of my friends as well.
My husband dropped off a pair of his pants at Alvaro's for hemming and to fix the button. They had a quick turnaround for him; within 48 hours, the pants were as good as new again. I was impressed not only by their speedy work, but also the quality of the hemming.
My sister found this place and I can't believe she'd share it with me! Laura's Designer Resale Boutique has everything a girl could want....designer clothes at discount prices. I love them! I've scored many an item there. Even my husband doesn't mind when I shop there - their prices are that good!
