This Mystic Tan location is great! They have the sunless system down pat. They're clean, well kept, get their clients in and out. I love the Mystic system and the convenience of this particular salon. We took a bunch of girls here the day before my best friend got married. They were so nice to us and accomdated 12 women. They knew we were there for a wedding and had champagne for us!
I was almost to the point of being disgusted by the Tan Company. I was in the area running errands when I saw them. I didn't have an appointment, but there was no need - the place was deserted. I asked about their tanning services and meant to say sunless, but the woman behind the counter started going over the beds they had. I went along with it and asked about the Mystic. As I was listening to her explanation as she was showing me room after room, I noticed how filthy the tanning beds looked. They didn't look like they had been cleaned and I remarked as such. I was given a perfuctory, 'they're fine'. She showed me the Mystic booth and there was garbage in the room. I thanked her for her time and got the heck out. Ick.
Tropical Tans & Skin Care is one of the nicer tanning salons I've been to. I'll only do sunless tanning and appreciated the cleanliness of the booth. The front desk person was friendly, gave me a smile and a hello as soon as I walked in and showed me around. When I was done, she politely asked if I was interested in any of their other services (they also wax) or packages. When I declined, she wished me a good day. I appreciate not being given the hard sell on packages like a lot of the other salons will do.
I went to Cabana Tan of Del Mar & Carmel Valley to specifically try out their new MyMist booth. It's basically the same as the traditional Mystic booth, but it talks you through the positions and only has one nozzle. It wasn't bad. I liked the salon, it's really cool and state of the art. They were great when I walked in and showed me around. My daughter came with me and although we didn't have an appointment scheduled for her, they took her as soon as I was done. Overall, it was a very good experience for us.
While getting my pedicure done at Galmour Nails Massage & Tan, I honestly didn't know they offered tanning there. I'm a total tanning diva and love my tanning salons - but I really don't like it when they combine them with hair and nail places. I realize it's additiional income, but I'm a tanning purist. My pedicure was only half baked. The woman doing my pedi seemed to be on another planet and wasn't paying attention. I had to nudge her a few times.
My friend the healer turned me onto De Chan Tan for some herbs she thought I could use to help with some female problems I was having. I made her go with me and I'm sure glad I did - English isn't their strong suit and I had no idea what I was looking for. She managed to get several different herbs readily (there were lots there) and not for a bad price. I'm still taking them and they seem to be making a difference.
I found my experience with South Coast Tan to be satisfactory. I went in to use their Mystic tanning and was ignored when I first walked in. I'm not sure what that was all about. I spoke up and asked about their services and the girl at the desk just looked at me like I was inconviencing her. Perplexed, I asked for a tour but was told they were booked up. Hmm...at any other time I would have walked out in a huff, but I really needed to get my tan done for a party the same day. I asked if there was any chance they could squeeze me in for the Mystic since it takes a whole 60 seconds to complete. After making a face, she told me if I wanted to wait 20 minutes, she 'might' be able to squeeze me in. In all that time, no one entered the salon or exited it. After 30 minutes, she led me to the booth. I guess they're picky on who they'll allow tan because they seemingly don't think they need clients. Their horrible attitude cost them a potential regular.
I'm tan year-round regardless of the season or the weather. I'm naturally pale, so it's a lifestyle preference. I won't do UV tanning unless I'm desperate and there aren't any other choices available. I Tan has a nice selection of ways to tan, including the Mystic system and airbrushing. I go the Mystic way with them. Their prices are competitive for the area and the salon is clean and well kept. The girls at the front are always very polite, which makes for a good experience. The bad - they get awfully busy and trying to get in can be a nightmare - even with an appointment.
I was absolutely fascinated when I discovered the Holistic Traditions Acupuncture clinic while surfing online. They offer acupucture for cosmetics reasons, call Mei Zen Cosmetic acupuncture. I'm all for aging gracefully, but I'm not going down without a fight. I'm too young get to think about plastic surgery, but I want to find out what else I could be doing. I made my appointment and became even more fascinated. Their procedure involves herbs, acupuncture, exercises and facials that are all designed to reduce fine lines, tone the facial muscles and alleviate dark spots. I don't have any dark spots, but do have some lines I'd like gone. The doctor I spoke to took a lot of explaining things to me, showed me befores and afters. I'm so excited about this, I just need my husband's buy in. I've even talked to a few of their patients who can't say enough good things.
I wasn't going on the wallpaper route with my kids bedrooms, but after getting a quote from Affordable Paperhanging-Paint, I didn't see why not to. I had asked them for a quote on some paint, then a quote for a texture application. They came back with the quotes, but also talked to me about wallpaper. For some reason, I thought it would be expensive, but they were able to show me samples that my kids loved that were very affordable. The rooms came out great! Everyone was pleased.
