I normally don't go the day spa route when I need to get tanned, usually the local tanning place will do fine. The problem with the traditional tanning places is you can't always get in when you want and I didn't have any time to waste. I had an unexpected shoot come up and needed to get air brushed. After calling around for places that could fit me in right away, the Body Bar Salon & Day Spa were the first ones who could get me in. After speaking to them for several minutes about the experience level of the tech who was going to airbrush me, I felt comfortable enough to make an appointment and head on over. The salon is what you would expect out of a nice spa - serene, calm, nice decor. They were very nice and took me to the room where I was to be sprayed. The girl who sprayed me did a good job and we chatted the whole time. I appreciate that she took her time and asked for my approval as we went. As far as day spas go, I can't comment. As far as their airbrushing, I give them top marks.
My sister used the Melissa Rae & Co. when my niece got married. I had taken her to several makeup artists I knew, but Melissa is the best. She does a trial run with her brides to make sure the makeup is just right, she does the actual day, and gives her brides a touch up kit. My niece was gorgeous - her makeup was very natural looking. The touch up kit came in very handy after the ceremony and kept her looking gorgeous the entire evening.
When I signed up to do a charity run, my husband thought I was crazy. He was also very supportive and told me if I actually complete the marathon (holy cow!), he would treat me to a massage afterwards. Well, I completed my training - and the run- and he came through with a massage at the Krishna Blu Body Studio. He said he picked this studio (Krishna is actually the lady who owns and runs the studio) because he liked Krishna's holistic approach to massage and she was very experienced working with marathoners. I have to say, he did good! Krishna is a great person; she's very spiritual, she works with your energy and she knows the exacty places on your body that need help after 26.2 miles. If I ever get hit on the head and agree to do a marathon again in the future, I'll have Krisha booked waaaaayyyy in advance.
My husband and I wanted to get away for our anniversary but couldn't go far because of kid and work commitments. We had my mother in law watch the kids so my husband and I had the house to ourselves. We had a catered meal and I arranged for the Spaahlicious Mobile Day Spa to come in and work their magic on us. We each got facials, massages and a pedicure. It was wonderful! They even brought us some kind of pomegranite anti oxidant drink that was delicious, followed up by chocolate covered strawberries. It was the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary.
After helping my friend pack up her house for their move, she gave me a gift certificate to the Natural Graces Health Therapies and Day Spa. What a treat! I had never heard of them before and was excited to learn their philosophy is more along the lines of healing with nature. I love the holistic approach to anything, so I booked a sugar scrub souffle and a leg therapy treatment with reflexology. It was the perfect treat and a great way for my friend to thank me for helping her out. The treatment was crazy good. I even bought certificates for my mom and mother in law for them to go here.
If my husband and I have a special night out either alone or with others and I've been bad leading up to it, I'll usually go tot the Segue Body Wraps salon and have them give me a wrap. I like the minerals they use in their wraps and I usually have them add an iodine boost. On average, I'll lose about 6-9 inches depending. The loss is temporary (although they insist they have clients where it's permanent - big eyebrow raise), but it's enough to give me the boost and the confidence to wear a great outfit.
I was totally impressed by Curtain Call. I had contacted them for a drapery consultation, but when they arrived at my house, I discovered the full range of their services. They do so much more than draperies - they do color consultation, wall treatments, they even do bedding. I had no idea~! It was a lot of fun working with them as it became much more involved than the simple curtain design I was originally planning.
My husband is thinning a little on top to the point it's starting to bother him. We made an appointment with Dr. DeYarman of the De Yarman Medical Group to see what options we had. Dr. DeYarman was very professional and took his time going over why hair loss happens and what can be done to treat it. All of the treatments have varying success and are invasive, but he at least gave us an excellent overview and a boat load of information. My husband really wants to do something, but we're going to get a couple of more opinons to see what our best course of action is.
Beach Bungalow Designs is an infant dream store. I had SOOO much fun shopping here for my little goddaughter. I took my friend shopping there as soon as she found out she was pregnant and practically bought out the place. Their bassinets and corresponding bedding is hands down the best you'll find anywhere. They carry much more than just infant bedding and furnishings, they also carry items appropriate for toddlers and youngsters. They claim teenage years; I think more to the age of 12 is appropriate. Nevertheless, it's an amazing baby store you should visit if you've got a little one in your life to shop for.
I looked at a bunch of options as far as window coverings at Drapery Land. I was impressed by the amount of choices they had in the drapery and blind department, but I was even more impressed by their customer service. I went there because of the slow progress we're making on renovating a couple of rooms at a time. I explained the madness to them and they were able to help me lay out a gameplan that I really liked. They weren't pushy and the drapes I had them do for the living room came out better than I expected. We're going to use them for the next phase - and I can't wait!
