Babyfairies is a cute arty kind of baby store specializing in handmade items. They have jewelry, clothing, accessories - even some cute diaper bags (although they refer to them as handbags). They have a unique collection that's really added nicely to the baby baskets I've made.
I'm an open minded person and I appreciate people being able to freely express themselves. I thought I was meeting with friends at Bodacious Living for a simple yoga class; what I encountered was an 'experience'. They're located in a bungalow and unless you absolutely know where it is, you'll get lost. I used my gps and I still couldn't find them. Thank goodness my friends had been there before and answered their cells. The class was fine, but center does much more than a simple yoga practice. These people are hardcore yogis offering sacred space design for your home of office and a 'play area' to let your inner child come out. I just wanted to learn some simple postures.
I made my daughter go with me for some semi-private classes at the Pilates Place studio. This is more than just a pilates studio, they do yoga, massage, personal training and even body wraps. Call me picky, I like my pilates studios simple. While I thought the classes we went to were done well, I felt like they kept trying to push their other services on me. After our first couple of classes, I decided to go to a more traditional pilates studio - where pilates is the only thing they concentrate on.
My mother in law of all people wanted me to go with her to her Hatha yoga class when she found out I had attended a couple of other yoga classes with friends. She loves Maya Yoga and does all kinds of classes with them including moon yoga and some kind of energy yoga work. I've only taken a couple of classes, so I needed to take it slower. The Hatha class we took wasn't too bad at all. The instructor has a very calm voice, kept correcting my posture and provided easy enough to follow instructions. I'm still not convinced yoga is for me, but if my mother in law and friends had their way, I'd convert to their thinking.
I admit - yoga is not my thing. Friends of mine have been asking me for eons to go to yoga classes with them, so I finally gave in and signed up for a week of free classes at Sculpt Fusion. They told me that this wasn't your typical yoga studio. They offer traditional classes, but they also combine it with scuplting. I started off with a tradional class first that I enjoyed, then got brave and took their scupt yoga. OMG! It kicked my butt and left me sore for days afterwards. It wasn't your mother's yoga class, I can tell you that. It was more of a whole body workout that practically makes you cry. I enjoyed my free week there and being able to experience their studio.
Seaside Pilates is the perfect blending of mat pilates and machine pilates (Cadillac). I loved the couple of classes I was able to squeeze in. The studio is small, organized, but houses a lot of equpment. Greg is the perfect instructor as well - friendly, encouraging and makes sure you're in perfect posture to get the most bang for the time spent.
I'm sure Pilates The Energy Within is a great studio - several of my friends swear by them - but they, like so many others insist that new students pay $80 for several sessions with the instructors before allowing them to take classes. Come on! If I were a beginner - which I'm not - I completely understand it. I'm an off again, on again practioner who likes to drop in here and there around my crazy schedule. I explained this to Rachel but she insisted I go through the new student 3 private session route. I declined. It's too bad because my friends all think it's a great studio. I'll never know.
I took my daughter shopping at Ronda's Closet to pick up an outfit for a party she was going to. We walked in and were greeted right away. This is a pretty cozy boutique and while my daughter was looking at clothes, I was looking at their jewelry. They had some nice things and when my daughter needed some help, I asked one of the staffers to assist. She did. We walked out with a complete outfit, accessories and jewelry. I don't know if this store is super trendy, but my daughter was happy which was the point.
When I was asked to be the godmother to my little angel of a goddaughter, I was over the moon happy. I told my friend I would take care of everything along the way, including her christenting. I found such cute invitations at Little Angel Announcements, I couldn't stand it. I actually found them before my goddaughter was born and sent the info onto the mom to be. She loved them as well so as soon as the baby was born and we had the particulars for the christening, I ordered everything up. Little Angel has a quick turnaround and within a short time, I had the invitations. They did such a nice job for us. I've referred several of my friends to them as well.
How can you not smile when you walk into a baby boutique? After the booming baby population last year, I've gotten quite adept at all the local baby stores. Baby Me carries Comfort Silkies, the most incredibly soft and silky baby blanket you'll ever find. It's been a winner whenever I've given one (and I've given quite a few just over the past year). Some people think they have to be dry cleaned only - not so. In fact, they tell you it's better to wash in cold water with a very gentle detergent and tumble dry low. Low maintenance and high quality. Great combination.
